WRX Spotlight: Cobra King F9 Speedback Tour fairway wood
Product: Cobra King F9 Speedback Tour fairway wood
Pitch: Using the foundations of Cobra technology, the Cobra King F9 Speedback Tour is a tight, compact fairway wood with a CNC-milled face, low CG and, of course, Baffler rails.
Cobra on the F9 Tour
“The Tour model was developed in collaboration with our Tour players to create a better-player version of our standard model that provides lower trajectories with reduced spin for increased control required for shot shaping.”

Our take on the Cobra King F9 Speedback Tour fairway wood
Director of Original Content Johnny Wunder…
Cobra has quietly produced some extremely effective fairway woods over the past few years but the F9 Tour is the best of them, all in one package. In my testing with a F9 Tour (14.5, Tensei Blue CK Pro 70TX at 42.5 inches), my ball speed and dispersion numbers were solid across the board. Numbers like 105 mph swing speed, 151 mph ball speed, 254 yards carry and 269 yards total on Foresight are excellent for me.

The Baffler rails, which Cobra has made a staple in its recent offerings, create very distinct turf interaction as well as a very solid “hammer head” feel, which in a FW I love. I’m curious to play around with it a bit more to maximize it, but after a session hitting 40 balls, I was very impressed.
If there is a negative here, it’s the head size, which is extremely compact optically. For those looking for some confidence from their club, this may present a challenge.

Neal Shipley, AKA, the “Big Fridge’s,” custom stamping
Neal Shipley was the first to admit that he enjoyed his food while in college. But since his days at Ohio State, he’s slimmed down and earned a PGA Tour Card.
That hasn’t stopped him from having fun with his wedge stampings, though it’s led to some misunderstandings.
On the 54 (degree), we have ‘Big Fudge,'” Shipley told GolfWRX. “It was supposed to be ‘Big Fridge,’ so this happened a little while ago. ‘Big Fridge’ was a nickname between my college teammates and I, with ‘fridge’ meaning stomach, a big stomach.

“We told the Ping guys to put … ‘Big Fridge’ on it, and I think maybe some bad cell service or something, and they thought I said ‘fudge,’ so they put fudge on it.”
On Shipley’s 50-degree he also continues the food theme, this time with his go-to order at the “Golden Arches,” and his stamping “DONS 7.”
“The number 7 meal, the two cheeseburger meal, that was my McDonald’s order, back when I would have McDonald’s frequently,” Shipley shared.

I recently bought new, old stock Bio Cell+ 3&5 fairways. They replaced my Amp Cell 3 wood and 3 hybrid. I’m not a low handicap player, but these clubs are awesome. Great trajectory and easy to hit. If they even slightly improved over time, these F9’s should be awesome.
