Lydia Ko explains why her PXG 58-degree wedge is so different
During the PXG 0311 Gen2 iron launch at Scottsdale National Golf Club, I caught up with 20-year-old Lydia Ko — who once became the youngest ever to reach a world No. 1 ranking at 17 years old — to discuss what’s currently in her bag. She discusses switching into the new Gen2 irons, what she likes about them, and also what’s so different about her 58-degree wedge. Joining us was PXG engineer Mike Nicolette who works with Ko on fitting and building her wedges.
Enjoy my interview with Ko and Nicolette above, and click here to hear more from Nicolette.

Neal Shipley, AKA, the “Big Fridge’s,” custom stamping
Neal Shipley was the first to admit that he enjoyed his food while in college. But since his days at Ohio State, he’s slimmed down and earned a PGA Tour Card.
That hasn’t stopped him from having fun with his wedge stampings, though it’s led to some misunderstandings.
On the 54 (degree), we have ‘Big Fudge,'” Shipley told GolfWRX. “It was supposed to be ‘Big Fridge,’ so this happened a little while ago. ‘Big Fridge’ was a nickname between my college teammates and I, with ‘fridge’ meaning stomach, a big stomach.

“We told the Ping guys to put … ‘Big Fridge’ on it, and I think maybe some bad cell service or something, and they thought I said ‘fudge,’ so they put fudge on it.”
On Shipley’s 50-degree he also continues the food theme, this time with his go-to order at the “Golden Arches,” and his stamping “DONS 7.”
“The number 7 meal, the two cheeseburger meal, that was my McDonald’s order, back when I would have McDonald’s frequently,” Shipley shared.

My Cleveland wedges are special. They have a custom sole grind that I made by using them so long and hitting them off pavement. My putter has a custom lie that I made by banging the head against a carpeted floor until it felt fight. Learned this from Lee Trevino. I used to customize my other clubs with lead tape until I started having memory loss and my doctor banned the tape.

It rubs the lotion on its skin. It does this whenever it is told. It rubs the lotion on its skin or else it gets the hose again. Yes it will, Precious, won’t it? It will get the hose!

I’m on this website to look at photos and read articles. Difficult to sneak in a video or audio clip while in between things at work. At least transcribing these would be helpful as the density of non-printed content seems to be increasing.

You are absolutely right. During work it´s impossible to watch the videos and unfortunately there are more and more of them.

Maybe you should work instead of surfing the web. Just a thought.

I know there’s a lot to the equation, but she was winning 4 and 5 times a year before she switched to PXG and hasn’t won since. During 2015-2016 she was the best putter on the planet – Spieth included.
