Callaway adds Rogue Driver to Callaway Customs platform
Just like the GBB Epic last year, Callaway is adding its centerpiece driver, Rogue, to the Callaway Customs platform, allowing golfers to customize two different zones with nine color options (and 81 possible color combinations).
All three Rogue models — Standard, Sub Zero, and Draw — are available for customization.
Callaway Customs allows golfers to create detailed personalization. using Callaway’s interactive configurator. In addition to the Rogue drivers, golfers can currently customize Mack Daddy 4 and Mack Daddy Forged wedges, along with Chrome Soft and Chrome Soft X golf balls.
With the Rogue driver, Callaway made a departure from the technology that made GBB Epic the best-selling driver in the U.S. last year. Callaway enhanced the Jailbreak technology the company debuted with Epic, turning the titanium bars to a hourglass shape to reduce weight and minimize crown and sole deflection at impact. The resulting thinner face allows for better energy transfer and higher ball speeds. This yields 0.6 mph more club head speed compared to the GBB Epic, according to Callaway, and a 16-percent tighter dispersion.
Rogue drivers also feature X Face VFT technology that uses variable face thicknesses across the face to boost ball speeds on off-center strikes. The triaxial carbon crown, Callaway’s largest carbon crown ever, allows the company to redistribute weight lower and farther back in the club head. Rogue driver also feature the Boeing Aero Package (speed trips on the crown and an overall more aerodynamic shape) which the company introduced in the XR 16 drivers.
The Customs Rogue retails for $599.99 and is available now.

Neal Shipley, AKA, the “Big Fridge’s,” custom stamping
Neal Shipley was the first to admit that he enjoyed his food while in college. But since his days at Ohio State, he’s slimmed down and earned a PGA Tour Card.
That hasn’t stopped him from having fun with his wedge stampings, though it’s led to some misunderstandings.
On the 54 (degree), we have ‘Big Fudge,'” Shipley told GolfWRX. “It was supposed to be ‘Big Fridge,’ so this happened a little while ago. ‘Big Fridge’ was a nickname between my college teammates and I, with ‘fridge’ meaning stomach, a big stomach.

“We told the Ping guys to put … ‘Big Fridge’ on it, and I think maybe some bad cell service or something, and they thought I said ‘fudge,’ so they put fudge on it.”
On Shipley’s 50-degree he also continues the food theme, this time with his go-to order at the “Golden Arches,” and his stamping “DONS 7.”
“The number 7 meal, the two cheeseburger meal, that was my McDonald’s order, back when I would have McDonald’s frequently,” Shipley shared.
