Bettinardi back again with 2017 BB1 Tiki Limited-Run putters
In honor of the PGA Tour’s Hawaiian-swing of tournaments — the SBS Tournament of Champions at Kapalua on the island of Maui, and the Sony Open at Waialae C.C. on Oahu — Bettinardi is releasing a limited-edition BB1 Tiki putter that captures the island lifestyle of Hawaii.
It’s the second straight year the company is releasing a Hawaii-inspired putter, giving Bettinardi enthusiasts another chance at one if they missed Bettinardi’s 2016 BB1 Tiki putters.
2017 BB1 Tiki Limited-Run putters
The putter, which is milled from soft, mild carbon steel, has a “Smoked Bronze” PVD finish. Ocean waves and a Tiki Totem are engraved on the sole, and the face of the putter has a special Polynesian-inspired F.I.T. Face, a milling design that removes material from the putter face for a softer feel.
Bettinardi’s BB1 Tiki putters are available in right-hand only, and in the following specs:
- Weight: 355 grams
- Toe Hang: 1/4 toe hang
- Lie Angle: 70 degrees
- Loft: 3 degrees
Only 150 putters are available starting on January 11, and can be purchased from select Bettinardi retailers for $500 each.

Neal Shipley, AKA, the “Big Fridge’s,” custom stamping
Neal Shipley was the first to admit that he enjoyed his food while in college. But since his days at Ohio State, he’s slimmed down and earned a PGA Tour Card.
That hasn’t stopped him from having fun with his wedge stampings, though it’s led to some misunderstandings.
On the 54 (degree), we have ‘Big Fudge,'” Shipley told GolfWRX. “It was supposed to be ‘Big Fridge,’ so this happened a little while ago. ‘Big Fridge’ was a nickname between my college teammates and I, with ‘fridge’ meaning stomach, a big stomach.

“We told the Ping guys to put … ‘Big Fridge’ on it, and I think maybe some bad cell service or something, and they thought I said ‘fudge,’ so they put fudge on it.”
On Shipley’s 50-degree he also continues the food theme, this time with his go-to order at the “Golden Arches,” and his stamping “DONS 7.”
“The number 7 meal, the two cheeseburger meal, that was my McDonald’s order, back when I would have McDonald’s frequently,” Shipley shared.

“Hawaii-inspired putter” At first these specialty putter manufactures thought we were fools. Now they are just laughing right in our face.
