Callaway offering Tour-Limited, comic-book-inspired wedges
Look in just about any golf bag on the PGA Tour, and you’ll likely find at least one customized wedge. But look in the bag of a Callaway staffer — such as Wesley Bryan, or Patrick Reed with his “Shhh!” wedge — and you’ll see artwork; not just a few letters or numbers. That’s thanks to Anthony Taranto who does the stamping, paint-filling and sand-blasting on Callaway wedges for Tour players.
Now, in addition to Callaway Custom program that launched in October, Tour-Limited wedges will be designed by Roger Cleveland, treated by Taranto, and made available to the golfing public. That’s right, you now have a chance at wedges that get the full Callaway Tour Van treatment.
Callaway will be releasing three unique wedges every month that will be blind-auctioned to the public. The trend started with these Ryder Cup wedges in September that sold for $1,010, and will continue this month with colorful, comic-book-themed wedges, which Callaway describes as “old-school Batman meet Hi-Liters.”
This month’s graffiti-style, “Boom,” “Pow” and “Smash” wedges (52-S Grind, 56 and 60 PM Grind) will come with a KBS Tour Custom Series shaft and SuperStroke’s S-Tech grip.
See more photos of the wedges in the gallery below (photos provided by Callaway).
The minimum bid is $650 for the set, and bidding will end on November 9 at 5 p.m.

Neal Shipley, AKA, the “Big Fridge’s,” custom stamping
Neal Shipley was the first to admit that he enjoyed his food while in college. But since his days at Ohio State, he’s slimmed down and earned a PGA Tour Card.
That hasn’t stopped him from having fun with his wedge stampings, though it’s led to some misunderstandings.
On the 54 (degree), we have ‘Big Fudge,'” Shipley told GolfWRX. “It was supposed to be ‘Big Fridge,’ so this happened a little while ago. ‘Big Fridge’ was a nickname between my college teammates and I, with ‘fridge’ meaning stomach, a big stomach.

“We told the Ping guys to put … ‘Big Fridge’ on it, and I think maybe some bad cell service or something, and they thought I said ‘fudge,’ so they put fudge on it.”
On Shipley’s 50-degree he also continues the food theme, this time with his go-to order at the “Golden Arches,” and his stamping “DONS 7.”
“The number 7 meal, the two cheeseburger meal, that was my McDonald’s order, back when I would have McDonald’s frequently,” Shipley shared.
