Directed Force builds lie-angle balanced blade putter

Published

on

Directed Force’s lie-angle balanced (L.A.B.) mallet putters received 5-stars in our review due to innovation, stroke stability and consistency. Now, the company will offer a blade-version with the same technology, which is designed to keep the putter face square to the path throughout your stroke.

While the blade versions are still in prototype phase, they are expected to released to the public sometime around the 2017 PGA Show, according to company founder Bill Presse. Presse provided GolfWRX with in-hand photos of the new prototypes in the mean time.

According to Presse, the blade putter is machined from “brass bar stock” and has a double face (for right- and left-handed golfers), with 3 degrees of loft on both sides. The sole plate has 3-degree heel-to-toe relief and 3 degrees of leading edge bounce.

As show above, there are three sight lines; two that are the exact width of a golf ball apart, and one that dissects both the center of the ball and the center shaft. The head weighs 335 grams before any extra weight is added.

He played on the Hawaii Pacific University Men's Golf team and earned a Masters degree in Communications. He also played college golf at Rutgers University, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism.

Might be nice to try one since I can’t putt with the few I have you just never know .

If anyone pays more than $15 for this, they should be slapped.

Meh. Using technology that seemore has had for years and acting like it is revolutionary.

Looks like something a 12 year old would make at school.

Except for the sight lines it looks very similar to my 40+ year old Acushnet Bullseye. It probably doesn’t work any better either. By the way, the Bullseye cost a lot less too.

Neal Shipley, AKA, the “Big Fridge’s,” custom stamping

Published

on

Neal Shipley was the first to admit that he enjoyed his food while in college. But since his days at Ohio State, he’s slimmed down and earned a PGA Tour Card.

That hasn’t stopped him from having fun with his wedge stampings, though it’s led to some misunderstandings.

On the 54 (degree), we have ‘Big Fudge,'” Shipley told GolfWRX. “It was supposed to be ‘Big Fridge,’ so this happened a little while ago. ‘Big Fridge’ was a nickname between my college teammates and I, with ‘fridge’ meaning stomach, a big stomach.

“We told the Ping guys to put … ‘Big Fridge’ on it, and I think maybe some bad cell service or something, and they thought I said ‘fudge,’ so they put fudge on it.”

On Shipley’s 50-degree he also continues the food theme, this time with his go-to order at the “Golden Arches,” and his stamping “DONS 7.”

“The number 7 meal, the two cheeseburger meal, that was my McDonald’s order, back when I would have McDonald’s frequently,” Shipley shared.

Check out Shipley’s full what’s in the bag and the rest of his wedge stampings here on “Inside the Ropes” from Colonial.
