Spotted: Ping Vault Putters

Published

on

Ping is debuting a new line of Vault Series putters at the FedEx St. Jude Classic, where they’ll be available to Tour players for testing. We can confirm the names of the putters — Anser 2, Bergen, Oslo and Voss — but that’s all at this time.

It’s a pretty safe bet that the Vault putters are milled, and it seems that they will incorporate the new “eyemark” Ping logo we’ve seen on custom putters made for Lee Westwood and Louis Oosthuizen in 2016, as well as the company’s new apparel line.

We expect these putters to be released later in the year with the company’s iBlade irons, which we spotted in early May, and will keep you posted as more information becomes available.

The Oslo looks like an old Ping I used about 15 years ago. Nice, though, with the added aim line.

The mallets look nice. I’ve always wanted more mallet options from ping.

I’m offended at the number of new product releases. Just like Taylormade.

Offended? Why would you let it bother you? Don’t buy it if you don’t think it can help your game.

I was just kidding. Just trying to sound like all the people that bash taylormade for coming out with new models. one product release per year is OK. More than one is the sin of all sins!

Yeah except they release a driver, some irons, then putters. Not 5 drivers in 6 months.

Oslo looks great for a mallet. Interesting face tech.

Neal Shipley, AKA, the “Big Fridge’s,” custom stamping

Published

on

Neal Shipley was the first to admit that he enjoyed his food while in college. But since his days at Ohio State, he’s slimmed down and earned a PGA Tour Card.

That hasn’t stopped him from having fun with his wedge stampings, though it’s led to some misunderstandings.

On the 54 (degree), we have ‘Big Fudge,'” Shipley told GolfWRX. “It was supposed to be ‘Big Fridge,’ so this happened a little while ago. ‘Big Fridge’ was a nickname between my college teammates and I, with ‘fridge’ meaning stomach, a big stomach.

“We told the Ping guys to put … ‘Big Fridge’ on it, and I think maybe some bad cell service or something, and they thought I said ‘fudge,’ so they put fudge on it.”

On Shipley’s 50-degree he also continues the food theme, this time with his go-to order at the “Golden Arches,” and his stamping “DONS 7.”

“The number 7 meal, the two cheeseburger meal, that was my McDonald’s order, back when I would have McDonald’s frequently,” Shipley shared.

Check out Shipley’s full what’s in the bag and the rest of his wedge stampings here on “Inside the Ropes” from Colonial.
