Callaway to offer PM Grind wedges in Matte Black finish
Callaway’s PM Grind, designed in conjunction with Phil Mickelson, will now be offered with a Matte Black finish. The original PM Grind, which released in early 2015, was well-received by Tour players, and has stayed in Mickelson’s bag since.
The new look was developed based on feedback from Tour players, according to Callaway, but it will keep all of the same designs and features. It’s just a different finish.
In 2014, Mickelson helped design the PM Grind wedge, which has a higher toe and 39 percent more groove coverage across the face, making the club more versatile from various lies. It’s a fantastic option around the greens, especially on short game shots played with an open face.
With a U-grind sole, the leading edge sits closer to the turf making it easier to play high-lofted shots from tight lies.
Also, a higher center of gravity in the club allows players to launch the ball lower with more spin, a shot that better players often prefer.
PM Grind wedges with a Matte Black finish will be available in lofts of 56, 58, 60 and 64 degrees. They’ll sell for $129.99 starting Jan. 29.

Neal Shipley, AKA, the “Big Fridge’s,” custom stamping
Neal Shipley was the first to admit that he enjoyed his food while in college. But since his days at Ohio State, he’s slimmed down and earned a PGA Tour Card.
That hasn’t stopped him from having fun with his wedge stampings, though it’s led to some misunderstandings.
On the 54 (degree), we have ‘Big Fudge,'” Shipley told GolfWRX. “It was supposed to be ‘Big Fridge,’ so this happened a little while ago. ‘Big Fridge’ was a nickname between my college teammates and I, with ‘fridge’ meaning stomach, a big stomach.

“We told the Ping guys to put … ‘Big Fridge’ on it, and I think maybe some bad cell service or something, and they thought I said ‘fudge,’ so they put fudge on it.”
On Shipley’s 50-degree he also continues the food theme, this time with his go-to order at the “Golden Arches,” and his stamping “DONS 7.”
“The number 7 meal, the two cheeseburger meal, that was my McDonald’s order, back when I would have McDonald’s frequently,” Shipley shared.

Just bought the 60.10. Had the 56.13 for three rounds late last year and loved it! Decided the black finish is beautiful so I plunked down another hundred thirty five bucks for the lob version. Can’t wait to try it out. Still too much snow here (Michigan)…can’t wait for spring. Just love this club.

I like the slate look, don’t like the shaft options – seems like the Hi Rev 2 for the 60 or 64 should be an option. As to the look – it’s a cross between a Ping and Edel with the grooves going to the edges of the toe.

If they made an entire set(green holes and all) of pm grind Mack daddies I would buy them a second…granted I owned that set before though ping was written on them..
Still, make a pm Mack daddy 3-LW and I would buy it immediately…

I’ve been wanting a “raw” version of this wedge so it can rust for awhile now. Anyone out there know if we can simply dump this club in coke or vinegar overnight to remove the finish? (couldn’t do this on the previous version because they were chrome plated)

I’ve been thinking the same thing. The raw ones Phil has in his bag look great. I wish they had an extra sole grind or two to pick from. I’m a sweeper and the amount of bounce on that as a lob wedge scares the H out of me. Looks like the ball is going to go screaming across the green on me.

I would buy one of these if you could get it in raw. It would be interesting to see if you could remove the finish.
