Hypotheticals

A question as old as golf: How would a pro fair at your home course? Anyone that plays the same course over and over again has pondered the same question, and in this thread, GolfWRX members discuss the answer as it applies to their home tracks.

How’s your state pride?

In this thread, golfers argue over the question: What’s the best golfing state in America? Of course, some say that “drunken” is the best state to play, while others make valid points about course designs, course conditions and weather in various states.

If you like traveling the country and playing different golf courses, this is quite an entertaining and informed conversation.

Industry rumors

Who doesn’t love a good rumor mill? In this thread, golfer discuss whispers about new equipment releases from various companies. If you want to stay “in the know,” and don’t mind sifting through a few falsities, this is a fun thread to keep an eye on.

Want more rumors? Here’s one that Tiger Woods dumped swing coach Chris Como — but you might want to take this one with a grain of salt.

Speaking of Tiger…

TigerWoods

Did you hear he switched driver shafts, into a Matrik TP7HDe? Did you think the forums would miss an equipment change from the most popular golfer on the planet?

If you’re behind, catch up on the latest buzz around Tiger’s shaft change. Through two rounds at his home tournament, the Quicken Loans National, he’s 8-under currently sitting T3.

Join the conversation about the Quicken Loans here.

He played on the Hawaii Pacific University Men's Golf team and earned a Masters degree in Communications. He also played college golf at Rutgers University, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism.

Not to nitpick, but it’s a Matrix TP7HDe….
Don’t know what the “e” means other than it raises the price to $1000….

Neal Shipley, AKA, the “Big Fridge’s,” custom stamping

Published

on

Neal Shipley was the first to admit that he enjoyed his food while in college. But since his days at Ohio State, he’s slimmed down and earned a PGA Tour Card.

That hasn’t stopped him from having fun with his wedge stampings, though it’s led to some misunderstandings.

On the 54 (degree), we have ‘Big Fudge,'” Shipley told GolfWRX. “It was supposed to be ‘Big Fridge,’ so this happened a little while ago. ‘Big Fridge’ was a nickname between my college teammates and I, with ‘fridge’ meaning stomach, a big stomach.

“We told the Ping guys to put … ‘Big Fridge’ on it, and I think maybe some bad cell service or something, and they thought I said ‘fudge,’ so they put fudge on it.”

On Shipley’s 50-degree he also continues the food theme, this time with his go-to order at the “Golden Arches,” and his stamping “DONS 7.”

“The number 7 meal, the two cheeseburger meal, that was my McDonald’s order, back when I would have McDonald’s frequently,” Shipley shared.

Check out Shipley’s full what’s in the bag and the rest of his wedge stampings here on “Inside the Ropes” from Colonial.
