Nike to release Volt-colored driver
Remember Michelle Wie’s custom Volt-colored Nike Vapor Speed driver she debuted in January, and currently has in the bag?
Soon, you will be able to buy one.
On May 4, the “Vapor Speed High-Visibility Volt Edition” driver will be available on Nike’s golf website, and May 8 at select retailers.
The driver was originally designed for Michelle Wie, but according to Nike, other athletes — like Paul Casey, who also uses one — and consumers expressed interest in the eccentric crown.
Equipment
Neal Shipley, AKA, the “Big Fridge’s,” custom stamping
Neal Shipley was the first to admit that he enjoyed his food while in college. But since his days at Ohio State, he’s slimmed down and earned a PGA Tour Card.
That hasn’t stopped him from having fun with his wedge stampings, though it’s led to some misunderstandings.
On the 54 (degree), we have ‘Big Fudge,'” Shipley told GolfWRX. “It was supposed to be ‘Big Fridge,’ so this happened a little while ago. ‘Big Fridge’ was a nickname between my college teammates and I, with ‘fridge’ meaning stomach, a big stomach.

“We told the Ping guys to put … ‘Big Fridge’ on it, and I think maybe some bad cell service or something, and they thought I said ‘fudge,’ so they put fudge on it.”
On Shipley’s 50-degree he also continues the food theme, this time with his go-to order at the “Golden Arches,” and his stamping “DONS 7.”
“The number 7 meal, the two cheeseburger meal, that was my McDonald’s order, back when I would have McDonald’s frequently,” Shipley shared.

I have to admit I liked the rzn ball in that crazy yellow, could see it no problem 300 yards away. Why not buy the same colored driver to make it get there? I think it looks great. No one should drive into you with that in your bag. Safety first!

I love my Nike red and glad I bought them when I did. The green just doesn’t do it for me.

After seeing how much people knocked taylormade for white drivers, I’m surprised more people aren’t giving Nike grief for this. Double-standard.

I’ll take it, nothing beats adding a little more color to the game.

I have no problem with a company maeketing a new color for an existing product. How a club looks is a big part of it. I just don’t like when they tell methat look will make me hit the club better. If your into fluorescent yellow, then go for it.

Anyone who thinks some golf equipment companies are about anything more than marketing need look no further than this. I can think of another word starting with V that the volt colour reminds me of! Truly terrible.
