12 revealing photos from the Zurich Classic
We’ll get to the revealing photos this week from the Zurich Classic, but first…
Let me take a selfie #ZurichClassic.
Aside from embarrassing selfie shots, we have a great lineup of photos this week from the Zurich Classic at TPC Louisiana, including Starbucks-inspired wedges. If you missed all the photos from this week, click here.
Let’s get to it.
These wedges should come with a warning label
Joe Affrunti’s Titleist SM5 wedges are covered in lead tape, and his 60-degree only has 4 degrees of bounce. Super heavy with no bounce? Don’t try this at home.
Heath Slocum switched into the AccuLock ACE Tech Deck putter
Let’s see if he can get the half-pipe hot this week at the Zurich Classic. Click here if you don’t get the reference.
This Titleist rep is wearing really obscure hockey socks
They show the logo of the Colorado Rockies, which were originally the Kansas City Scouts in the mid 70s before becoming the Colorado Rockies. The team moved to East Rutherford, N.J. in 1982 and became the New Jersey Devils. Thumbs up right back at you for learnin’ me something.
h/t Thrills for logo identification
Chesson Hadley’s wedge is inspirational
“Be somebody” is a reference to his shouting order earlier this year at the Valero Texas Open.
Jordan Spieth, a fellow ball-yeller, surely appreciated Hadley’s effort. I’m also fairly certain “Baby Huggie” stamped on his 52-degree Titleist SM5 wedge is a baby diaper reference, but is yet to be confirmed.
Can you spot why this is a 1-of-1 putter?
It’s Chez Reavie’s “Scotty Camero” Tour Only putter. It’s missing an “n” — just had to point that out.
As always, we keep people smiling with GolfWRX poker chips
If you see photographer Greg Moore at a tour event, be sure to say hello and ask for a poker chip.
Ben Crane getting ready to shoot a POV video with a tee shot
And hopefully there’s enough memory to capture his entire pre-shot routine.
Jason Gore (sort of) followed Ian Poulter’s lead
Instead of high-end luxury vehicles, Gore stamped references to a 1987 Dodge Colt Premier and a Nissan Datsun 210.
Nick Taylor’s University of Washington Huskies head cover is winking at you
Either that or he’s missing an eye. Is this one of those Sarah McLachlan soul-crushing SPCA commercials?
We spotted Adagio’s new earbud headphones on the range
But surely the sound quality is better if you actually remove the packaging.
How’s that box sound, man?
Blayne Barber’s new Starbucks wedges just went on every coffee lovers’ wish-list
They were stamped by Aaron Dill, the man responsible for most of the grinds and stampings you’ll see on Vokey wedges on the PGA Tour. Well done, Aaron; the caffeine-crazed golfers among us appreciate it.

Also, a nice observation here from chotston in our forums.
Willy Mac’s TaylorMade RBZ Stage 2 Tour 3-wood looks like it’s unfamiliar with a head cover
Or maybe it got scraped up during a Kayak accident in Montana?

Neal Shipley, AKA, the “Big Fridge’s,” custom stamping
Neal Shipley was the first to admit that he enjoyed his food while in college. But since his days at Ohio State, he’s slimmed down and earned a PGA Tour Card.
That hasn’t stopped him from having fun with his wedge stampings, though it’s led to some misunderstandings.
On the 54 (degree), we have ‘Big Fudge,'” Shipley told GolfWRX. “It was supposed to be ‘Big Fridge,’ so this happened a little while ago. ‘Big Fridge’ was a nickname between my college teammates and I, with ‘fridge’ meaning stomach, a big stomach.

“We told the Ping guys to put … ‘Big Fridge’ on it, and I think maybe some bad cell service or something, and they thought I said ‘fudge,’ so they put fudge on it.”
On Shipley’s 50-degree he also continues the food theme, this time with his go-to order at the “Golden Arches,” and his stamping “DONS 7.”
“The number 7 meal, the two cheeseburger meal, that was my McDonald’s order, back when I would have McDonald’s frequently,” Shipley shared.
