TaylorMade-adidas signs Anna Nordqvist

Published

on

Since 2012, TaylorMade-adidas Golf has been one of the hottest golf companies on the planet. Now, in addition to some of the most popular equipment lines, the company is quickly acquiring a strong collection of staff professionals at just about every level of the game.

The company announced the addition of LPGA Tour player Anna Nordqvist as staff professional and brand ambassador earlier this month.

The 26-year-old Nordqvist, from Sweden, will play TaylorMade woods and irons; she’ll also wear adidas golf apparel and footwear. Previously, Nordqvist sported Puma clothing and played a mix of Cobra, Ping and Callaway clubs.

Nordqvist turned professional in 2008 after a decorated amateur career on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean. She won the 2009 LPGA Championship in her fifth professional start and followed that up with two more LPGA Tour wins. In three Solheim Cup appearances, Nordqvist compiled a 6-5-1 record and recorded the only hole-in-one in Solheim Cup history. In 2013, she made the cut in all 26 of the LPGA events she entered.

“We are thrilled to welcome Anna into the TaylorMade-adidas Golf family as a member of our tour staff,” said Chuck Presto, TaylorMade-adidas Golf senior vice president of global sports marketing. “She’s an established and well-respected professional on the LPGA Tour that we’re proud to have representing our two brands.”

Nordqvist’s accomplishments and potential make her an excellent addition to TaylorMade-adidas Golf’s current staff that already includes LPGA Tour stars Natalie Gulbis, Paula Creamer and Jessica Korda, as well as PGA Tour professionals Justin Rose, Dustin Johnson and Sergio Garcia.

Neal Shipley, AKA, the “Big Fridge’s,” custom stamping

Published

on

Neal Shipley was the first to admit that he enjoyed his food while in college. But since his days at Ohio State, he’s slimmed down and earned a PGA Tour Card.

That hasn’t stopped him from having fun with his wedge stampings, though it’s led to some misunderstandings.

On the 54 (degree), we have ‘Big Fudge,'” Shipley told GolfWRX. “It was supposed to be ‘Big Fridge,’ so this happened a little while ago. ‘Big Fridge’ was a nickname between my college teammates and I, with ‘fridge’ meaning stomach, a big stomach.

“We told the Ping guys to put … ‘Big Fridge’ on it, and I think maybe some bad cell service or something, and they thought I said ‘fudge,’ so they put fudge on it.”

On Shipley’s 50-degree he also continues the food theme, this time with his go-to order at the “Golden Arches,” and his stamping “DONS 7.”

“The number 7 meal, the two cheeseburger meal, that was my McDonald’s order, back when I would have McDonald’s frequently,” Shipley shared.

Check out Shipley’s full what’s in the bag and the rest of his wedge stampings here on “Inside the Ropes” from Colonial.
