Spotted: Attomax Pro’s Atom Black shaft offers a new kick
A new shaft from Attomax Pro caught my eye at Demo Day. Engineered and designed in Korea, and manufactured in Japan, Attomax Pro Atom Black is a new introduction to the line for 2026.
At a retail price of $899, this shaft boasts tight tolerances and layers of graphite construction. For this new shaft release, the Atom Black is a stouter version of its predecessor, the Atom Blue.
The Atom Black has a higher kick point, a lower launch, and less spin, all developed based on feedback from previous users and PGA Tour players.
Speaking with Attomax Head of Sales & Tour Operations, Tim Kellund, “This is for the player who wants a little more beef in the shaft, but still demands that really dynamic feel at impact”.
The Atom Black offers dynamic fitting options as well. The shaft comes in versions with 5 S and 5 X in the 50-gram range. The line continues with a 6 S, 6 X, 6 TX with the 60 gram range and in the 70 gram range, 7 S, 7 X, and 7 TX.

Where this shaft got my attention was the feeling at impact. It offered a stable-feeling kick and ball flight consistency on off-center hits, after a few swings.
Kellund said “with mishits, the numbers stay down, for a right handed player, the wipe spinning to the right, it doesn’t fall off, I like to say it’s more a tilt to the right” in regards to the target line.
With the options of weight, flex, and feel, this Attomax Pro Atom Black shaft is going to be an interesting follow this 2026 PGA Tour season and beyond.

Neal Shipley, AKA, the “Big Fridge’s,” custom stamping
Neal Shipley was the first to admit that he enjoyed his food while in college. But since his days at Ohio State, he’s slimmed down and earned a PGA Tour Card.
That hasn’t stopped him from having fun with his wedge stampings, though it’s led to some misunderstandings.
On the 54 (degree), we have ‘Big Fudge,'” Shipley told GolfWRX. “It was supposed to be ‘Big Fridge,’ so this happened a little while ago. ‘Big Fridge’ was a nickname between my college teammates and I, with ‘fridge’ meaning stomach, a big stomach.

“We told the Ping guys to put … ‘Big Fridge’ on it, and I think maybe some bad cell service or something, and they thought I said ‘fudge,’ so they put fudge on it.”
On Shipley’s 50-degree he also continues the food theme, this time with his go-to order at the “Golden Arches,” and his stamping “DONS 7.”
“The number 7 meal, the two cheeseburger meal, that was my McDonald’s order, back when I would have McDonald’s frequently,” Shipley shared.
