Fujikura Ventus TR Blue gets updated with VeloCore+ Technology

Published

on

Fujikura has seen substantial success with the Ventus and Ventus TR shaft lines since the first was released in 2019. Last year, we saw the first update to the original Ventus profiles, adding VeloCore+ technology. For 2026 we are now getting a brand new Ventus TR Blue with all of Fujikura’s latest tech under the new matte dark blue paint.

The big upgrade for the new Ventus TR Blue is the addition of VeloCore+. VeloCore+ is a multi-material bias core that provides torsional stability for added accuracy and consistency. Fujikura used its recently updated proprietary Enso 3D motion capture camera system to analyze how shafts bend and twist through the swing in order to create VeloCore+. While increasing stability was a major focus, Fujikura engineers also made sure to improve how the shaft uses that stored energy so it can help increase ball speed.

“The original TR Blue was such a trusted profile, so we wanted to keep what golfers already loved and see how far we could take it with VeloCore+. As soon as testing began, the improvements were clear. We saw more stability, better centredness of contact and more than 80% of players saw increased clubhead speed. Players also reported more clubface awareness and a more stable overall feel, which lined up perfectly with the performance data.”  -TJ Spidle, Product Manager at Fujikura

What makes the Ventus TR Blue different from Ventus Blue is the addition of spread tow carbon fiber up near the handle section, below the grip, on the shaft. Spread tow is an ultra-thin and lightweight carbon fiber fabric that stiffens up that section of the shaft. Fujikura found that for some golfers, their swing would put stress in that area, and adding a spread tow helps add stability and create more consistent center contact. For 2026, the spread to carbon fiber is laid at zero degrees, from the previous shaft’s 45-degree angle, in order to add some stiffness for players who really load the shaft.

The new Ventus TR Blue profile is very similar to the original but has a slightly stiffer handle section and a slightly softer mid-section, while the tip area is the same. Mid launch and low spin keep the new shaft playing very similar to the original TR Blue. This new Ventus TR Blue will be available at authorized Fujikura dealers and fitters on January 9.

I love the new Ventus Blue Velocore+ over the OG. But the reveiws on the new TR are so good I think I may have to change my drier shaft for 2026.

Neal Shipley, AKA, the “Big Fridge’s,” custom stamping

Published

on

Neal Shipley was the first to admit that he enjoyed his food while in college. But since his days at Ohio State, he’s slimmed down and earned a PGA Tour Card.

That hasn’t stopped him from having fun with his wedge stampings, though it’s led to some misunderstandings.

On the 54 (degree), we have ‘Big Fudge,'” Shipley told GolfWRX. “It was supposed to be ‘Big Fridge,’ so this happened a little while ago. ‘Big Fridge’ was a nickname between my college teammates and I, with ‘fridge’ meaning stomach, a big stomach.

“We told the Ping guys to put … ‘Big Fridge’ on it, and I think maybe some bad cell service or something, and they thought I said ‘fudge,’ so they put fudge on it.”

On Shipley’s 50-degree he also continues the food theme, this time with his go-to order at the “Golden Arches,” and his stamping “DONS 7.”

“The number 7 meal, the two cheeseburger meal, that was my McDonald’s order, back when I would have McDonald’s frequently,” Shipley shared.

Check out Shipley’s full what’s in the bag and the rest of his wedge stampings here on “Inside the Ropes” from Colonial.
