Golf gifts for the stylish golfer

Published

on

The holidays are upon us again, GolfWRX members, so let the daydreaming begin, as we fill our lists with the golf gear we want this holiday season.

As is true every year, the gifts in the Holiday Gift Guide ideas will suit any budget, and each item was hand-picked by our staff. We’re again presenting our guide as a series as we did in years past, targeting “the purist,” “the gearhead,” “the value seeker,” “the golfer looking to improve,” “the stylish golfer,” and “the big spender.”

Here are our best recommendations for the stylish golfer in your life.

Druids Ambassador Pack

Style + value! Rather than just giving a polo or a hat, how about a whole outfit for the stylish golfer in your life?

Druids says: Give the ultimate gift this Christmas with the Druids Ambassador Pack — a complete
head-to-toe golf outfit for just $250. The six-piece set includes a premium jacket, versatile
midlayer, tailored trousers, breathable polo, your choice of belt or cap, and a pair of socks. With
thousands of combinations from sleek classics to bold designs, it’s the perfect mix of comfort,
performance, and style.

Air Jordan 1 Low

Sneaker-style shoes have grown in popularity (and acceptability) on the golf course. While not every variety of stylish golfer will cede the territory once occupied by more traditional designs, any SG who chooses more casual, athletic footwear will appreciate the iconic AJ1.

Holderness & Bourne: The Wallace Hoodie Sweater

A golf hoodie for adults! H&B’s spin on the most controversial on-course garment since Loudmouth pants is as tasteful as you’d expect it to be.

Smathers & Branson Golf Tees Belt

If New England preppy whimsy is in your stylish golfer’s repertoire, nobody does it better than Smathers & Branson. Superb golf tee design here!

Neal Shipley, AKA, the “Big Fridge’s,” custom stamping

Published

on

Neal Shipley was the first to admit that he enjoyed his food while in college. But since his days at Ohio State, he’s slimmed down and earned a PGA Tour Card.

That hasn’t stopped him from having fun with his wedge stampings, though it’s led to some misunderstandings.

On the 54 (degree), we have ‘Big Fudge,'” Shipley told GolfWRX. “It was supposed to be ‘Big Fridge,’ so this happened a little while ago. ‘Big Fridge’ was a nickname between my college teammates and I, with ‘fridge’ meaning stomach, a big stomach.

“We told the Ping guys to put … ‘Big Fridge’ on it, and I think maybe some bad cell service or something, and they thought I said ‘fudge,’ so they put fudge on it.”

On Shipley’s 50-degree he also continues the food theme, this time with his go-to order at the “Golden Arches,” and his stamping “DONS 7.”

“The number 7 meal, the two cheeseburger meal, that was my McDonald’s order, back when I would have McDonald’s frequently,” Shipley shared.

Check out Shipley’s full what’s in the bag and the rest of his wedge stampings here on “Inside the Ropes” from Colonial.
