New PXG Mustang ZT putter combines Zero-Torque and blade looks
PXG just added the Mustang head shape to its line of ZT (Zero Torque) putters, and blade users should be happy! The Battle Ready II Mustang is a unique take on the blade putter, featuring more mass on the toe and heel for added stability. PXG engineers took the company’s S-hosel design and integrated it into the Mustang for a zero-torque blade putter that has similar high MOI to a mallet.

Zero-torque putters are the hottest equipment category at the moment and feature engineering to keep the face square to the target throughout the entire stroke. PXG’s unique S-hosel design puts the shaft just above the club’s center of gravity, which creates a natural toe-up balance. Since the center of gravity sits right below the shaft, there’s basically no torque happening around that point. Putting is hard, and this can help golfers create a more consistent putt that starts online more often.
“With the Mustang ZT, we’re expanding the Zero Torque lineup to give golfers even more options that fit the way they play,” said PXG Founder and CEO Bob Parsons.

Along with the hosel, PXG uses its patented S-Cor polymer inside the head for two reasons.
- To make a great feeling and sounding putter from the vibration reduction at impact.
- To take mass from the center of the club head and move it towards the outside for a more stable putter that stays online better when you miss the center of the face.
The entire head is milled from 303 stainless steel and features PXG’s Pyramid Face Pattern that works with the dimples on the ball to reduce hopping and skidding, providing a smoother and more consistent roll.

The headweight is stock at 365 grams but can be adjusted through the precision weighting system on the sole. Loft is set to four degrees, but this plays like three when you take the one degree of forward shaft lean into account. The PXG Mustang ZT is available now at PXG stores, on PXG’s website, and at authorized fitters.

Neal Shipley, AKA, the “Big Fridge’s,” custom stamping
Neal Shipley was the first to admit that he enjoyed his food while in college. But since his days at Ohio State, he’s slimmed down and earned a PGA Tour Card.
That hasn’t stopped him from having fun with his wedge stampings, though it’s led to some misunderstandings.
On the 54 (degree), we have ‘Big Fudge,'” Shipley told GolfWRX. “It was supposed to be ‘Big Fridge,’ so this happened a little while ago. ‘Big Fridge’ was a nickname between my college teammates and I, with ‘fridge’ meaning stomach, a big stomach.

“We told the Ping guys to put … ‘Big Fridge’ on it, and I think maybe some bad cell service or something, and they thought I said ‘fudge,’ so they put fudge on it.”
On Shipley’s 50-degree he also continues the food theme, this time with his go-to order at the “Golden Arches,” and his stamping “DONS 7.”
“The number 7 meal, the two cheeseburger meal, that was my McDonald’s order, back when I would have McDonald’s frequently,” Shipley shared.
