Titleist announces limited run of Pro V1 Left Dot balls
A week after Pro V1x Left Dash began tour seeding, we have more CPO news: Titleist has announced that its Pro V1 Left Dot golf ball, long a Tour-only option, will be available to the public in a limited release beginning September 23 for the first time since 2021.
The Pro V1 Left Dot, identified by a •Pro V1 sidestamp, was originally developed as a Custom Performance Option (CPO) back in 2014 for players seeking the soft feel of a Pro V1 with a lower, more penetrating flight and reduced long-game spin. Since its introduction, it has played a role in more than 30 PGA Tour wins, including Henrik Stenson’s 2016 Open Championship and Patrick Reed’s 2018 Masters victories.

Tony Finau, a five-time PGA Tour winner with Left Dot, praised its reliability in varying wind conditions: “If you can control your ball flight, you can control the distance. And it’s been such a reliable ball flight for me from the first time I hit it.”
The ball’s key innovation lies in its high gradient core, a design that lowers full-swing spin while maintaining greenside control. Learnings from Left Dot’s construction have since influenced the design of current Pro V1 and Pro V1x models, which now feature high gradient core technology.
Tour players such as Finau, Justin Rose, Tom Hoge, and Jake Knapp have all captured victories with Left Dot in recent years. In 2025, it accounts for roughly 6 percent of Titleist usage on the PGA Tour, where Pro V1 and Pro V1x models still dominate at 72 percent.
To recap, Left Dot offers:
- Lower full-swing spin than Pro V1
- Lower flight than Pro V1
- Similar soft feel to Pro V1
The Pro V1 Left Dot will be sold exclusively through Titleist.com and select online retailers in the U.S. and Canada starting September 23. Pricing is set at $55 per dozen, with a limit of two dozen per customer.

Neal Shipley, AKA, the “Big Fridge’s,” custom stamping
Neal Shipley was the first to admit that he enjoyed his food while in college. But since his days at Ohio State, he’s slimmed down and earned a PGA Tour Card.
That hasn’t stopped him from having fun with his wedge stampings, though it’s led to some misunderstandings.
On the 54 (degree), we have ‘Big Fudge,'” Shipley told GolfWRX. “It was supposed to be ‘Big Fridge,’ so this happened a little while ago. ‘Big Fridge’ was a nickname between my college teammates and I, with ‘fridge’ meaning stomach, a big stomach.

“We told the Ping guys to put … ‘Big Fridge’ on it, and I think maybe some bad cell service or something, and they thought I said ‘fudge,’ so they put fudge on it.”
On Shipley’s 50-degree he also continues the food theme, this time with his go-to order at the “Golden Arches,” and his stamping “DONS 7.”
“The number 7 meal, the two cheeseburger meal, that was my McDonald’s order, back when I would have McDonald’s frequently,” Shipley shared.
