Spotted: Logan Olson Tour Matrix putter fitting system (and modular putters)
Logan Olson is a rising star in the world of putter design and has created some putters for some of the top professionals out on tour. Olson’s partnership with TaylorMade has given the putter maker substantial resources and access to some of the best players in the world. From that, Logan Olson has really pushed his putters to the next level, and this week he debuted a new fitting system for helping to get players more dialed in.

Olson’s Tour Matrix fitting system consists of modular putter pieces that come together to get the player exactly what they want. Olson is developing the kit to bring together different blade putter faces — and maybe hosels as well — that connect to different size flange extensions. Now, this isn’t the newest idea in putters, as other companies do this for retail putters. But this Tour Matrix will make it much easier to dial in a player on tour without milling a bunch of putters with small changes in order to find the one that fits.
In the Tour Matrix, we can see two different face milling designs, one with horizontal lines and one with traditional milling, which will change the way the putter feels and sounds. We would assume that more options will continue to be added as players request them. Currently, Olson is offering three different flange sizes (1.0, 1.25, and 1.5) that create either a wider or narrower putter. Not only does that width change the look of the putter, but it also will make it feel different through the putting stroke. We also see some mallet soles in the kit that look like they will be attached to the faces for players who prefer that shape. Mallets look to also have a different alignment square that must be attached to the top in order to get the right sight line for the golfer’s preference.

Along with the different flanges, Olson also has twin weight ports that will get the putter head weight to just about anything you could want. No word on the final details of this kit yet, or if the kit will go to retail for fittings.

Neal Shipley, AKA, the “Big Fridge’s,” custom stamping
Neal Shipley was the first to admit that he enjoyed his food while in college. But since his days at Ohio State, he’s slimmed down and earned a PGA Tour Card.
That hasn’t stopped him from having fun with his wedge stampings, though it’s led to some misunderstandings.
On the 54 (degree), we have ‘Big Fudge,'” Shipley told GolfWRX. “It was supposed to be ‘Big Fridge,’ so this happened a little while ago. ‘Big Fridge’ was a nickname between my college teammates and I, with ‘fridge’ meaning stomach, a big stomach.

“We told the Ping guys to put … ‘Big Fridge’ on it, and I think maybe some bad cell service or something, and they thought I said ‘fudge,’ so they put fudge on it.”
On Shipley’s 50-degree he also continues the food theme, this time with his go-to order at the “Golden Arches,” and his stamping “DONS 7.”
“The number 7 meal, the two cheeseburger meal, that was my McDonald’s order, back when I would have McDonald’s frequently,” Shipley shared.
