Trending @ 2nd Swing Golf: The Mizuno irons you (probably) need and a record-breaking driver
GolfWRX is proud to partner with 2nd Swing Golf to bring you this bi-monthly series “Trending @ Swing Golf.” 2nd Swing has more than 100,000 new and pre-swung golf clubs available in six store locations and online.
We’ll continue to bring you a roundup of some exciting finds from the golf equipment retailer — and these aren’t your standard bestsellers!
Let’s dig in to this edition of Trending @ 2nd Swing Golf.
Mizuno JPX 923 Hot Metal HL Irons

2nd Swing says: The Mizuno JPX 923 Hot Metal HL irons offer all of the superb Mizuno iron technology designed to deliver ball speed and launch but in a higher-lofted package. The result is much better launch conditions for the large contingent of golfers that may hit their irons too low.
Ping Hoofer Craz-E-Lite Stand Bag

2nd Swing says: The Ping Hoofer Craz-E-Lite is both lightweight and highly functional, making it a top option for walking golfers. Weighing just 3.25 pounds, the Craz-E-Lite stand bag has a total of 19 liters in pocket storage and also includes many of the essentials, such as a seam-sealed valuables pocket, strong carbon-fiber legs, and a zip-off ball pocket panel.
Titleist TS1 Driver

2nd Swing says: While it’s a few years old at this point, the Titleist TS1 driver has proven to be a favorite for golfers at 2nd Swing, especially golfers looking for extra speed and launch capabilities. Built with lightweight materials and a lighter shaft, the TS1 will help golfers who have maybe lost some swing speed retain that distance off the tee.
Ping Glide 4.0 Wedges

2nd Swing says: Wedges might be the most forgotten category of clubs when it comes to Ping, but that doesn’t mean the performance isn’t there. The Glide 4.0 wedges provide everything a golfer’s short game demands. A new multi-material construction pairs 8620 carbon steel with a soft elastomer insert to ensure a superb feel, while milled grooves and new Emery face blast combine to add more texture to the hitting surface.
TaylorMade Stealth 2 Driver

2nd Swing says: A seemingly unbreakable record was broken this past week on the PGA Tour thanks to a TaylorMade Stealth 2 driver. Adam Long hit 69 consecutive fairways off the tee, including a stunning 56-for-56 performance at the World Wide Technology Championship. Sure, Long didn’t hit driver on every one of these tee shots — but his Stealth 2 deserves a lot of the credit.

Neal Shipley, AKA, the “Big Fridge’s,” custom stamping
Neal Shipley was the first to admit that he enjoyed his food while in college. But since his days at Ohio State, he’s slimmed down and earned a PGA Tour Card.
That hasn’t stopped him from having fun with his wedge stampings, though it’s led to some misunderstandings.
On the 54 (degree), we have ‘Big Fudge,'” Shipley told GolfWRX. “It was supposed to be ‘Big Fridge,’ so this happened a little while ago. ‘Big Fridge’ was a nickname between my college teammates and I, with ‘fridge’ meaning stomach, a big stomach.

“We told the Ping guys to put … ‘Big Fridge’ on it, and I think maybe some bad cell service or something, and they thought I said ‘fudge,’ so they put fudge on it.”
On Shipley’s 50-degree he also continues the food theme, this time with his go-to order at the “Golden Arches,” and his stamping “DONS 7.”
“The number 7 meal, the two cheeseburger meal, that was my McDonald’s order, back when I would have McDonald’s frequently,” Shipley shared.
