Spotted: Ping G430 Max 10K driver
There have been some rumblings about Ping releasing another addition to the G430 driver line, and we got confirmation that the company is doing so at the RSM Classic this week.
Introducing the Ping G430 Max 10K driver with a carbon crown. We don’t have any official details from Ping yet, so anything here is pure guesses based on the photos. That 10K number on the toe could refer to the total MOI number, adding both horizontal and vertical numbers. The horizontal MOI is limited by the USGA to 5,900 and most drivers hit that number long ago.

Ping has included the Carbonfly Wrap crown, just like on the G430 LST, in the G430 Max 10K as a way to move more weight from the crown to elsewhere in the head. The crown still includes Ping’s aerodynamic Turbulators and they might be slightly refined compared to the G430 Max driver. They looks just slightly different from the photos, but it could be lighting.

The sole of the new G430 Max 10K also looks to be more refined and smoother than the rest of the G430 line. This could be for aerodynamics, allowing better airflow for faster swinging of the club head. The rear of the sole also looks different as the center section looks lower and has a tungsten weight installed. The rear sides of the driver look to taper up quickly and be made from carbon fiber.

The 10K head shape overall looks to be a little shallower and flatter than the standard G430 Max, but we will see when we get the driver in our hands.

Neal Shipley, AKA, the “Big Fridge’s,” custom stamping
Neal Shipley was the first to admit that he enjoyed his food while in college. But since his days at Ohio State, he’s slimmed down and earned a PGA Tour Card.
That hasn’t stopped him from having fun with his wedge stampings, though it’s led to some misunderstandings.
On the 54 (degree), we have ‘Big Fudge,'” Shipley told GolfWRX. “It was supposed to be ‘Big Fridge,’ so this happened a little while ago. ‘Big Fridge’ was a nickname between my college teammates and I, with ‘fridge’ meaning stomach, a big stomach.

“We told the Ping guys to put … ‘Big Fridge’ on it, and I think maybe some bad cell service or something, and they thought I said ‘fudge,’ so they put fudge on it.”
On Shipley’s 50-degree he also continues the food theme, this time with his go-to order at the “Golden Arches,” and his stamping “DONS 7.”
“The number 7 meal, the two cheeseburger meal, that was my McDonald’s order, back when I would have McDonald’s frequently,” Shipley shared.
