Spotted: Sam Burns testing an Odyssey prototype putter
Sam Burns was spotted out on the East Lake practice green with a brand new Odyssey putter in hand. We asked Sam about the new putter and he informed us that he is not sure if the new putter will go into play this week, but we noticed it was the only flatstick in his bag.

The new putter is a #7 S head shape but with a different face insert and an all-black finish. The face insert looks different from anything Odyssey has in the current line and almost looks like it could be an old White Hot Pro or DFX insert.

A large sole plate is visible and is held to the body with a few screws, meaning there is probably some internal weight moved around. The sole also looks to have two large, round weights up near the face and a blank indent for a badge in between them. Sam’s putter has three site lines, one on the top and two running down the fangs that I personally think frame the ball well.
It is interesting that this new putter doesn’t seem to have Odyssey’s popular Stroke Lab shaft installed, instead, it looks like a standard black steel shaft. No comment from Odyssey on the details or tech in this new putter.

Neal Shipley, AKA, the “Big Fridge’s,” custom stamping
Neal Shipley was the first to admit that he enjoyed his food while in college. But since his days at Ohio State, he’s slimmed down and earned a PGA Tour Card.
That hasn’t stopped him from having fun with his wedge stampings, though it’s led to some misunderstandings.
On the 54 (degree), we have ‘Big Fudge,'” Shipley told GolfWRX. “It was supposed to be ‘Big Fridge,’ so this happened a little while ago. ‘Big Fridge’ was a nickname between my college teammates and I, with ‘fridge’ meaning stomach, a big stomach.

“We told the Ping guys to put … ‘Big Fridge’ on it, and I think maybe some bad cell service or something, and they thought I said ‘fudge,’ so they put fudge on it.”
On Shipley’s 50-degree he also continues the food theme, this time with his go-to order at the “Golden Arches,” and his stamping “DONS 7.”
“The number 7 meal, the two cheeseburger meal, that was my McDonald’s order, back when I would have McDonald’s frequently,” Shipley shared.
