GolfWRX’s Last Minute Father’s Day Gift Guide
A reminder from your friends at GolfWRX: Father’s Day is this Sunday, June 18. And as we do every year, we’re rounding up some unique gifts for dad.
As always, we believe there’s no better golf-related Father’s Day gift than a round of golf with pops. Be it a country club or your favorite muni, take the time to get together to play 18 if you can!
We’re focusing on gear and accessories this year. If you’re looking to get dad a new driver or irons, be sure to check out our Best Driver 2023 and Best Irons guides.
Let’s get to the gifts.
Adidas ZG23 golf shoes – $200
Way more comfortable than our resident Club Junkie thought they would be in his review. There was no break-in period and the ZG23 feature a very comfortable medium-width fit. Very stable and great traction in any lie, including green side and fairway bunkers. This shoe really gives you that locked-down feeling while offering softer cushioning, even for heavier golfers.
Oakley Leffingwell golf sunglasses – $162
Oakley’s Prizm Dark Golf lenses are built for brighter light than the original Prism Golf with 22-percent light transmission. The Leffingwell is a more classic design that can be worn on and off the course and the black frame is made from plant-based BiO-Matter. Oakley’s Prizm technology enhances color and contrast on the golf course, making it easier to read greens and contours on the course.
Super Stroke “Tour Issue” Zenergy 2.0PT putter grip – $35
The Super Stroke PT has a smaller and more rounded profile that looks to be catching on with players on the professional tours. The shape is still considered a pistol style with a more pronounced arc under the top hand and extending into the butt of the grip. The 1.0 PT has been available to us, but the larger 2.0 PT was only made for the tour.
Hoodie Cooler golf cart cooler – $129
Designed to hold a standard seven-pound bag of ice and up to 18 12-ounce cans of dad’s favorite beverage. The Hoodie Cooler straps onto the front of a golf cart with adjustable straps and side buckles. Made from 1680D Ballistic Nylon, the Hoodie Cooler is durable and waterproof to keep those drinks cold throughout the whole round. There is even a front zippered pocket to hold dad’s koozies and a bottle opener.
Titleist Pro V1/ProV1x golf balls – $55/dozen
The No. 1 ball in golf. The most widely played on the PGA Tour by a wide margin. With best-in-class performance, dad will feel like a pro when you hand him a dozen “Pro V’s.”
Dormie Workshop The Boulevard headcover – $145
In honor of the 2023 U.S. Open, which is being contested at Los Angeles Country Club, we thought dad might like a gift that’s both commemorative of the third major of the year and has longevity beyond it. Enter Dormie’s “The Boulevard” cover — an ode to Hollywood’s legendary Walk of Fame.
Geoff Shackelford’s Golf Architecture for Normal People – $30
If dad has a passing interest in golf architecture but doesn’t know where to start… Or, as the book description states, “Shackelford takes readers on a fun walking tour through what is often considered a rarefied field and achieves the following along the way: Helps golfers of all skill levels become keener observers while getting more joy out of playing any course. Introduces simple and easy-to-remember ways to judge a design’s merits. Cuts through entrenched architectural snootiness to drive home the importance of a few timeless design tenets.”
Seamus LACC Crew Neck – $125
Seamus Golf was tasked with creating some truly unique 2023 U.S. Open apparel and accessories, and the venerable Pacific Northwest brand succeeded admirably. This vintage-inspired crew neck sweatshirt is a stylish commemorative of the major that wraps on Father’s Day.
TaylorMade TP5/TP5x MySymbol golf balls – $54.99/dozen
“What golf ball are you playing, dad?”
“TaylorMade TP5 hot dog, son.”
If you’d like to be able to have that exchange, or get dad premium golf balls with a truly unique marking, check out TaylorMade’s MySymbol offering.
FootJoy Premiere Series Field golf shoe – $199
Is dad something of a footwear traditionalist? Unlikely to be seen sporting Jordans on the golf course? Well then, for his feet, look no further than FootJoy’s Premiere Series Field golf shoes.
Equipment
Neal Shipley, AKA, the “Big Fridge’s,” custom stamping
Neal Shipley was the first to admit that he enjoyed his food while in college. But since his days at Ohio State, he’s slimmed down and earned a PGA Tour Card.
That hasn’t stopped him from having fun with his wedge stampings, though it’s led to some misunderstandings.
On the 54 (degree), we have ‘Big Fudge,'” Shipley told GolfWRX. “It was supposed to be ‘Big Fridge,’ so this happened a little while ago. ‘Big Fridge’ was a nickname between my college teammates and I, with ‘fridge’ meaning stomach, a big stomach.

“We told the Ping guys to put … ‘Big Fridge’ on it, and I think maybe some bad cell service or something, and they thought I said ‘fudge,’ so they put fudge on it.”
On Shipley’s 50-degree he also continues the food theme, this time with his go-to order at the “Golden Arches,” and his stamping “DONS 7.”
“The number 7 meal, the two cheeseburger meal, that was my McDonald’s order, back when I would have McDonald’s frequently,” Shipley shared.
