Spotted: Dustin Johnson’s custom Scotty Cameron T5.5 Circle T putter
We are seeing a lot of great new equipment at the 2023 PGA Championship and Dustin Johnson’s bag didn’t disappoint. DJ has been known to play a beautiful Scotty Cameron blade in recent years, but this week we saw him with a very nice T5.5 mallet. The T5.5 is similar to the Phantom X T5.5 that you can buy in stores with a 303 stainless steel body, aluminum sole plate, and two interchangeable sole weights.
DJ’s T5.5 features a small, milled slant neck that is welded to the head and a single site line on the topline. The flange is part of the sole plate and made from aluminum, anodized black, and held in place with 4 hex screws. The sole weights are 10g each and of course, there is a large red Circle T logo right in the center. The face features a fairly deep milling pattern for a softer feel and muted sound with a red cherry bomb in the heel and Dustin’s initials on the toe.
The putter is finished off with an LA Golf P-Series-SOHO graphite putter shaft that is engineered to go over the post on the hosel and a SuperStroke Pistol 1.0 Zenergy grip.

More “spotted” pieces
Neal Shipley was the first to admit that he enjoyed his food while in college. But since his days at Ohio State, he’s slimmed down and earned a PGA Tour Card.
That hasn’t stopped him from having fun with his wedge stampings, though it’s led to some misunderstandings.
On the 54 (degree), we have ‘Big Fudge,'” Shipley told GolfWRX. “It was supposed to be ‘Big Fridge,’ so this happened a little while ago. ‘Big Fridge’ was a nickname between my college teammates and I, with ‘fridge’ meaning stomach, a big stomach.
“We told the Ping guys to put … ‘Big Fridge’ on it, and I think maybe some bad cell service or something, and they thought I said ‘fudge,’ so they put fudge on it.”
On Shipley’s 50-degree he also continues the food theme, this time with his go-to order at the “Golden Arches,” and his stamping “DONS 7.”
“The number 7 meal, the two cheeseburger meal, that was my McDonald’s order, back when I would have McDonald’s frequently,” Shipley shared.
