TaylorMade introduces all-new Stealth HD irons
TaylorMade Golf has today unveiled the all-new Stealth HD irons.
Joining the Stealth family, Stealth HD is designed to welcome a wider breadth of golfers to Team TaylorMade with a more forgiving, easy-to-launch max game improvement option.

The new addition features an ultra-low profile head shape in the long irons designed to drive CG lower to help get the ball airborne with ease while progressive head sizes (each club is uniquely shaped and gets incrementally larger from 5-iron through pitching wedge) aim to help independently optimize the performance of each iron.

An increased sole radius and step down design along the bottom of the club round out the all-new shape. Per TaylorMade, testing confirmed that increasing the sole arc from heel to toe led to more shots high on the face, which translates to higher launch and further helps this golfer get the ball airborne.
The step down sole is designed to boost playability by reducing the amount of surface area that contacts the turf.

An asymmetric draw-bias face was incorporated in direct response to golfer interviews, while TaylorMade increased loft throughout the Stealth HD iron set to correspond with findings from a proprietary simulation tool – factoring in relevant design variables in design to optimize carry distance, launch angle and spin at slow to moderate swing speeds.

In addition, Stealth HD irons incorporate a Cap Back Design, a Thru Slot Speed Pocket and the brand’s Echo Damping System, a trio that aims to create a flexible and responsive face with excellent feel.

Neal Shipley, AKA, the “Big Fridge’s,” custom stamping
Neal Shipley was the first to admit that he enjoyed his food while in college. But since his days at Ohio State, he’s slimmed down and earned a PGA Tour Card.
That hasn’t stopped him from having fun with his wedge stampings, though it’s led to some misunderstandings.
On the 54 (degree), we have ‘Big Fudge,'” Shipley told GolfWRX. “It was supposed to be ‘Big Fridge,’ so this happened a little while ago. ‘Big Fridge’ was a nickname between my college teammates and I, with ‘fridge’ meaning stomach, a big stomach.

“We told the Ping guys to put … ‘Big Fridge’ on it, and I think maybe some bad cell service or something, and they thought I said ‘fudge,’ so they put fudge on it.”
On Shipley’s 50-degree he also continues the food theme, this time with his go-to order at the “Golden Arches,” and his stamping “DONS 7.”
“The number 7 meal, the two cheeseburger meal, that was my McDonald’s order, back when I would have McDonald’s frequently,” Shipley shared.

To me, the whole line of Stealth irons is a copy of the Nike Vapor irons. The HD are the same as the Nike Speed irons.
