GolfWRX Launch Report: 2023 TaylorMade Stealth 2 fairway woods, hybrids
What you need to know: Breakthrough movable weight technologies and versatile designs are the hallmarks of the 2023 TaylorMade Stealth 2 fairway woods. Stealth 2 Plus is branded as “three fairway woods in one” owing to the unique performance characteristics afforded by the 50-gram sole weight. Stealth 2 features a slightly lower profile 3D carbon crown than Stealth. This moves CG down and away from the toe with more weight in the rear of the club for higher launch and MOI. Ultra-high MOI Stealth 2 HD features an oversized 200cc head and low-profile sole, creating an easy-to-hit, draw-biased club.

Stealth 2 Plus
Stealth 2 Plus fairway features a heavy 50-gram sliding weight on the sole, which allows for three main weight settings.
Middle setting: Most versatile, mid launch, mid spin. Suited for the widest range of players
Forward setting: Low spin, lower trajectory. Ideal for high-spin players.
Rear setting: Highest-spin, highest-MOI setting.
Sliding weight settings in conjunction with the FCT Loft Sleeve gives Stealth 2 Plus +/- two degrees of loft and approximately +/- 550 RPMs of spin.

Stealth 2
The 3D carbon crown is slightly lower than Stealth, which positions CG lower in the club and away from the toe. This allows engineers to move more weight rearward in the club for additional forgiveness.
Engineers again employ the V Steel sole, which helps position weight low for deeper CG and improves turf interaction for versatility from different lies.
Advanced Inverted Cone Technology, which is present in all Stealth 2 models, optimizes the face thickness profile of each club.

Stealth 2 HD
Branded as an easy-to-hit addition to the Stealth family and the fairway wood for players who struggle to hit their fairway woods, Stealth 2 HD features an oversized 200cc head and ultra-high MOI construction for maximum playability. Large, low-profile sole helps launch the ball higher. Stealth 2 HD is internally weighted for a draw bias.

What TaylorMade says
Regarding Stealth 2 Plus…
“We anticipate the forward setting being popular on Tour, particularly among players like Collin Morikawa who have historically used our 13.5° Rocket 3-wood for increased distance and a low spin/low launch. The versatility of Stealth 2 Plus will allow for this type of “rocket” setting but ultimately its versatility is its greatest appeal. Adjusting the movable weight creates noticeable performance differences in terms of launch, spin and distance, allowing golfers to dial in the preferred flight characteristics that their game, course and conditions require.” — Tomo Bystedt, Senior Director of Product Creation
Regarding the face design…
“Advanced ICT takes a proven TaylorMade concept and pushes it to the next level. We’ve now optimized variable face thickness for each individual club, so that every face on a Stealth 2 fairway or Rescue has been specifically engineered for that club. This design feat is a testament to our team’s relentless drive to improve on every aspect of our products year after year.”

Neal Shipley, AKA, the “Big Fridge’s,” custom stamping
Neal Shipley was the first to admit that he enjoyed his food while in college. But since his days at Ohio State, he’s slimmed down and earned a PGA Tour Card.
That hasn’t stopped him from having fun with his wedge stampings, though it’s led to some misunderstandings.
On the 54 (degree), we have ‘Big Fudge,'” Shipley told GolfWRX. “It was supposed to be ‘Big Fridge,’ so this happened a little while ago. ‘Big Fridge’ was a nickname between my college teammates and I, with ‘fridge’ meaning stomach, a big stomach.

“We told the Ping guys to put … ‘Big Fridge’ on it, and I think maybe some bad cell service or something, and they thought I said ‘fudge,’ so they put fudge on it.”
On Shipley’s 50-degree he also continues the food theme, this time with his go-to order at the “Golden Arches,” and his stamping “DONS 7.”
“The number 7 meal, the two cheeseburger meal, that was my McDonald’s order, back when I would have McDonald’s frequently,” Shipley shared.
