What’s YOUR longest driver? – GolfWRXers discuss
In our forums, our members have been discussing their longest driver. WRXer ‘Baby_Draw’ opens the thread with a simple criteria, saying:
“You could have data to back it up, or it can simply be an on-course anecdote. I’m just curious to see if there’s a standout among all the different types of players in this community.
Feel free to share your war stories and specific makes/models/shafts in the comments as well!”
And our members have been sharing the biggest weapon that they’ve used in our forum.
Here are a few posts from the thread, but make sure to check out the entire discussion and have your say at the link below.
- WipeyFade: “So far, my longest drive has come with my Titleist 913 D2. It’s funny because it was one of my crappier strikes. It was a big draw struck way out on the toe.”
- Hedgehog: “I hit my longest ever carry with the basic Mavrik but would never game it.”
- BagOfToast: “SIM2 Max was my first carry over 290. I have never hit it so straight and long before.”
- ac6: “Of course, the one I have now is the longest ever (TSi3), but that’s also because my speed has improved. There are two drivers I had 15+ years ago that stand out, though–Callaway GBB II Pro Series with a YS-6, and an SMT Nemesis 370 with a Speeder 657 Boron. Ended up snapping the shaft at the hosel on both of ’em, but those were the first drivers I had that I could use to bounce balls up the other side of the range 290+ yards away.”
- phizzy30: “Stealth+ for me currently. Now the longest driver I’ve ever had in the bag was when I was in my late 20’s was the FT9-TA, but that’s because I was making 122 ss at 180 ball speed.”

Neal Shipley, AKA, the “Big Fridge’s,” custom stamping
Neal Shipley was the first to admit that he enjoyed his food while in college. But since his days at Ohio State, he’s slimmed down and earned a PGA Tour Card.
That hasn’t stopped him from having fun with his wedge stampings, though it’s led to some misunderstandings.
On the 54 (degree), we have ‘Big Fudge,'” Shipley told GolfWRX. “It was supposed to be ‘Big Fridge,’ so this happened a little while ago. ‘Big Fridge’ was a nickname between my college teammates and I, with ‘fridge’ meaning stomach, a big stomach.

“We told the Ping guys to put … ‘Big Fridge’ on it, and I think maybe some bad cell service or something, and they thought I said ‘fudge,’ so they put fudge on it.”
On Shipley’s 50-degree he also continues the food theme, this time with his go-to order at the “Golden Arches,” and his stamping “DONS 7.”
“The number 7 meal, the two cheeseburger meal, that was my McDonald’s order, back when I would have McDonald’s frequently,” Shipley shared.

Longest drive I’ve ever hit was 360 downwind with a Cobra BioCell+. Not far behind are F9 and SIM under similar conditions.
