Callaway introduces new Rogue fairway wood family for 2022

Published

on

Callaway Golf has today officially announced its new Rogue family of fairway woods: the Rogue ST Max, Rogue ST Max D, and Rogue ST LS.

The 2022 fairway woods feature new Batwing Technology and a completely redesigned A.I. Jailbreak system. The new additions are available to pre-order today and arrive at retail on February 1, 2022, priced at $349.99 each.

Here’s a rundown of all the technology packed into the new fairways for 2022:

  • Jailbreak ST: Two Jailbreak batwings are pushed to the perimeter, providing stiffness while allowing the face to flex in design for high ball speeds
  • Tungsten Speed Cartridge: By incorporating up to 27g of high-density tungsten, the Center of Gravity (CG) is pushed low and forward to provide for lower spin with more ball speed
  • A.I. face: The all-new A.I. face optimization bids to improve speed, launch and spin, with the unique face pattern customized for each model and loft in the fairway lineup
  • High Strength Face Cup: The C300 maraging steel is specially treated through a proprietary process for high strength and flexibility, while the Flash Face Cup is designed to offer greater speed and spin consistency across the face

Rogue ST Max

Per Callaway, the Rogue ST Max is their fastest ever fairway wood and boasts an all-new Tungsten Speed Cartridge, new Jailbreak ST, and an A.I.-designed Flash Face, which are all engineered to provide maximum speed and forgiveness.

The new addition is a mid-launch offering with slight draw bias and features models from a 3W through 11W.

Lofts: 3/15 degrees, 3 HL/15 degrees, 5/18 degrees, HW/20 degrees, 7/21 degrees, 9/24 degrees, 11/27 degrees

Rogue ST Max D

The Rogue ST Max D is Callaway’s first dedicated draw fairway wood and is the highest launching fairway wood in the 2022 lineup.

The fairway wood utilizes a slightly closed face, more upright lie angle and additional weight in the heel to promote a draw, with the club aimed at players that need the most shot shape correction in their fairway wood.

Lofts: 3/16 degrees, 5/19 degrees, 7/22 degrees

Rogue ST LS

Billed as the company’s fastest fairway wood in a compact players shape, the Rogue ST LS model features a deeper face with a compact footprint that is suited for better players.

The 28g Tungsten Speed Cartridge and forward weight screw push the CG forward for low spin, while the shape and face profile make this the company’s most fade-capable fairway wood.

Lofts: 3+/13.5 degrees, 3/15 degrees, 3 HL/16.5, 5/18 degrees

Neal Shipley, AKA, the “Big Fridge’s,” custom stamping

Published

on

Neal Shipley was the first to admit that he enjoyed his food while in college. But since his days at Ohio State, he’s slimmed down and earned a PGA Tour Card.

That hasn’t stopped him from having fun with his wedge stampings, though it’s led to some misunderstandings.

On the 54 (degree), we have ‘Big Fudge,'” Shipley told GolfWRX. “It was supposed to be ‘Big Fridge,’ so this happened a little while ago. ‘Big Fridge’ was a nickname between my college teammates and I, with ‘fridge’ meaning stomach, a big stomach.

“We told the Ping guys to put … ‘Big Fridge’ on it, and I think maybe some bad cell service or something, and they thought I said ‘fudge,’ so they put fudge on it.”

On Shipley’s 50-degree he also continues the food theme, this time with his go-to order at the “Golden Arches,” and his stamping “DONS 7.”

“The number 7 meal, the two cheeseburger meal, that was my McDonald’s order, back when I would have McDonald’s frequently,” Shipley shared.

Check out Shipley’s full what’s in the bag and the rest of his wedge stampings here on “Inside the Ropes” from Colonial.
