GolfWRX Spotted: Henrik Stenson brings blue shaft Diablo 3-wood out of retirement
Henrik Stenson and his blue shaft Callaway Diablo Octane 3-wood were once a partnership as prodigious as ham and eggs, and after two years on the sidelines, it appears the trusty club is back in the bag for the Swede.
We spotted Stenson on the grounds at the Valero Texas Open swinging away with his Diablo 3-wood during Tuesday’s practice session as the 44-year-old looks to find some much-needed form.

Stenson retired the club back in 2019, switching in a Callaway Epic Flash Sub Zero model but following five missed cuts in a row, it looks like this week could be a reunion between the Swede and the Diablo.
Speaking to the PGA Tour back in 2019, Stenson said:
“It’s always sad when one of the trusties has to retire. I knew long before I gave up on it that the new technology was better and more efficient. When the other one broke in 2017, in February, I was out at a tournament in Dubai, and I had to put (a new fairway wood) in; that thing that I put in for that week was much hotter.”
Stenson’s Callaway Diablo Octane 3-wood equipped with a Grafalloy Blue X shaft was one of the most successful player/club partnerships in recent times.
Stenson rarely missed a fairway with the club, which had a very low loft – stamped 13-degrees but turned down to 11.8-degrees.
Stay tuned to see if the club goes in the bag for Thursday’s opening round.

Neal Shipley, AKA, the “Big Fridge’s,” custom stamping
Neal Shipley was the first to admit that he enjoyed his food while in college. But since his days at Ohio State, he’s slimmed down and earned a PGA Tour Card.
That hasn’t stopped him from having fun with his wedge stampings, though it’s led to some misunderstandings.
On the 54 (degree), we have ‘Big Fudge,'” Shipley told GolfWRX. “It was supposed to be ‘Big Fridge,’ so this happened a little while ago. ‘Big Fridge’ was a nickname between my college teammates and I, with ‘fridge’ meaning stomach, a big stomach.

“We told the Ping guys to put … ‘Big Fridge’ on it, and I think maybe some bad cell service or something, and they thought I said ‘fudge,’ so they put fudge on it.”
On Shipley’s 50-degree he also continues the food theme, this time with his go-to order at the “Golden Arches,” and his stamping “DONS 7.”
“The number 7 meal, the two cheeseburger meal, that was my McDonald’s order, back when I would have McDonald’s frequently,” Shipley shared.
