Dustin Johnson signs extension with TaylorMade; DJ TaylorMade WITB 2021

Published

on

Dustin Johnson, who has played TaylorMade equipment since turning pro 14 years ago, has signed an extension with the company which will see the successful partnership continue long into the future.

Speaking on the extension of his contract with TaylorMade, DJ said

“With all the challenges of 2020, it was one of my best years on the golf course. TaylorMade was right there with me each step of the way, just like they’ve been for my whole career. There isn’t a better golf equipment company in the game, especially the guys out on Tour. I’m looking forward to being part of Team TaylorMade for a long time to come.”

Armed with TaylorMade equipment, Johnson has amassed 24 victories throughout his career including two major championships with the last coming in November at the 2020 Masters tournament.

On their relationship extending, David Abeles TaylorMade CEO stated

“When we look back on everything DJ has accomplished over the course of his career, we couldn’t be prouder to be on his team. The victories, the major championships, the record-setting performances. He’s done it all, and with TaylorMade equipment in his hands for each moment. That’s humbling, but it also fuels us to keep innovating and pushing the limits of performance so that we can continue to help DJ play the best possible golf – while rewriting the history books along the way.”

DJ has now spent 111 weeks atop the OWGRs, which is the third all-time in total number of weeks at World Number One trailing only Tiger Woods and Greg Norman. Ahead of this week’s Sentry Tournament of Champions, here’s a look inside the bag of DJ for 2021:

DJ is the best and he’s the best for many reasons. The fact he plays the best clubs made is one of them

Nobody makes better golf clubs than TaylorMade. I had a set 10yrs ago then went to another brand. Now I’m ready to buy TaylorMade again.

    DJ + TM = World Number 1

TM clubs are unbelievably great. And by that I mean they’re driver heads are unbelievably great at breaking.

Neal Shipley, AKA, the “Big Fridge’s,” custom stamping

Published

on

Neal Shipley was the first to admit that he enjoyed his food while in college. But since his days at Ohio State, he’s slimmed down and earned a PGA Tour Card.

That hasn’t stopped him from having fun with his wedge stampings, though it’s led to some misunderstandings.

On the 54 (degree), we have ‘Big Fudge,'” Shipley told GolfWRX. “It was supposed to be ‘Big Fridge,’ so this happened a little while ago. ‘Big Fridge’ was a nickname between my college teammates and I, with ‘fridge’ meaning stomach, a big stomach.

“We told the Ping guys to put … ‘Big Fridge’ on it, and I think maybe some bad cell service or something, and they thought I said ‘fudge,’ so they put fudge on it.”

On Shipley’s 50-degree he also continues the food theme, this time with his go-to order at the “Golden Arches,” and his stamping “DONS 7.”

“The number 7 meal, the two cheeseburger meal, that was my McDonald’s order, back when I would have McDonald’s frequently,” Shipley shared.

Check out Shipley’s full what’s in the bag and the rest of his wedge stampings here on “Inside the Ropes” from Colonial.
