GolfWRX Spotted: TaylorMade SIM2 fairway woods and hybrids on conforming list
Just a few short weeks ago at GolfWRX, we were the first to share that the TaylorMade SIM2 drivers were officially on the conforming club list.
Now, with the new PGA Tour season starting up in Hawaii at the Sentry Tournament of Champions, more clubs are making their debut on the conforming list, including the SIM2 fairway woods and hybrids from TaylorMade.
TaylorMade SIM2 Titanium fairway wood

You don’t mess with a good thing, and the SIM2 titanium looks to be utilizing the same platform as the original 2020 version except with more of the steel soleplate’s mass moved further back in the head, likely to increase MOI.
TaylorMade is also sticking with the adjustability in the SIM2 Titanium.
TaylorMade SIM2 Max fairway wood

The SIM2 Max looks to also be following familiar lines with a V-Steel sole and no additional hosel adjustability.
The one thing to note is from the pictures available, the sole from heel to toe looks to be more rounded, which could make them easier to hit from the turf.
TaylorMade SIM2 Max D fairway wood

We can’t tell from the pictures, but if the SIM2 Max D is anything like the previous generation it will have a taller face and more upright lie angle compared to the standard Max model.
The internal weighting is going to likely be a big part of this club’s story, but unfortunately, since these are just sole images, those details will have to wait until we have more information.
2021 TaylorMade SIM2 rescue hybrids
SIM2 Max Rescue

The SIM2 Rescue looks to offer minor cosmetic changes, and a more curved sole to make it easier to hit from a variety of lies.
SIM2 Rescue

This is where things get interesting.
TaylorMade hasn’t had a truly adjustable hybrid since the GAPR line from a number of years ago, and with the success of the SIM brand, offering another club to help optimize the top end of the bag for golfers looking for adjustability makes this a no-brainer.
The shape looks to be quite similar to previous Rescue TP models that also offered adjustability but with a bunch of extra technology including the through sole speed pocket.
Conclusion
With the success of the 2020 SIM fairway woods and hybrids, TaylorMade is looking to refine and not redefine their metal woods line outside of the addition of an adjustable hybrid, which should prove to be very successful.
Both the SIM Titanium and steel fairway woods were top of their class when it came to performance and we should expect to see similar gains with these new releases.

Neal Shipley, AKA, the “Big Fridge’s,” custom stamping
Neal Shipley was the first to admit that he enjoyed his food while in college. But since his days at Ohio State, he’s slimmed down and earned a PGA Tour Card.
That hasn’t stopped him from having fun with his wedge stampings, though it’s led to some misunderstandings.
On the 54 (degree), we have ‘Big Fudge,'” Shipley told GolfWRX. “It was supposed to be ‘Big Fridge,’ so this happened a little while ago. ‘Big Fridge’ was a nickname between my college teammates and I, with ‘fridge’ meaning stomach, a big stomach.

“We told the Ping guys to put … ‘Big Fridge’ on it, and I think maybe some bad cell service or something, and they thought I said ‘fudge,’ so they put fudge on it.”
On Shipley’s 50-degree he also continues the food theme, this time with his go-to order at the “Golden Arches,” and his stamping “DONS 7.”
“The number 7 meal, the two cheeseburger meal, that was my McDonald’s order, back when I would have McDonald’s frequently,” Shipley shared.
