Cobra releases limited edition King MIM wedges to close out the 2020 major season
To celebrate the final major of 2020, Cobra is releasing a limited edition King MIM wedge inspired by the flowers found around a well-known golf course in Augusta Georgia.

The special edition wedges are manufactured using the same Metal Injection Molded (MIM) process as the standard MIM wedges as well as the new King Tour irons which were recently launched. It utilizes a multi-step process where the wedges are formed using 304 stainless steel powder and binding material, which is then sintered – the process of compacting and forming a solid mass of material by heat or pressure without melting it to the point of liquefaction, at over 1300°. This results in a tight molecular grain structure resulting in a soft feel.
The little details

The limited-edition wedges are finished using what Cobra is calling a vintage copper PVD, and then have paint-filled laser-etched flowers representing Azaleas, Golden Bells, and White Dogwoods, but this isn’t just a “wall hanger.”
The wedge showcases the popular VTG “versatile tour grind” inspired by Rickie Fowler. It has what would be considered a medium bounce profile with 10° measured along with aggressive heel and toe relief for shots hit from varying lies and turf conditions. The signature of the grind is the middle sole notch designed to keep the leading edge closer to the ground when the face is opened on tight lies.
The wedge, like all Cobra clubs, is integrated with Cobra Connect powered by Arccos to allow players to track their accuracy and short game improvements using the Arccos Caddie app and their smartphone or watch.

Price, specs, and availability
The wedge is available now at Cobragolf.com and is priced at $199. It is shafted with a KBS Hi-Rev 125 which features a custom yellow and green shaft band, and a Lamkin Crosslin connect grip in a green and yellow color scheme.
It will only be available in a 56-degree loft and in right-handed.

Neal Shipley, AKA, the “Big Fridge’s,” custom stamping
Neal Shipley was the first to admit that he enjoyed his food while in college. But since his days at Ohio State, he’s slimmed down and earned a PGA Tour Card.
That hasn’t stopped him from having fun with his wedge stampings, though it’s led to some misunderstandings.
On the 54 (degree), we have ‘Big Fudge,'” Shipley told GolfWRX. “It was supposed to be ‘Big Fridge,’ so this happened a little while ago. ‘Big Fridge’ was a nickname between my college teammates and I, with ‘fridge’ meaning stomach, a big stomach.

“We told the Ping guys to put … ‘Big Fridge’ on it, and I think maybe some bad cell service or something, and they thought I said ‘fudge,’ so they put fudge on it.”
On Shipley’s 50-degree he also continues the food theme, this time with his go-to order at the “Golden Arches,” and his stamping “DONS 7.”
“The number 7 meal, the two cheeseburger meal, that was my McDonald’s order, back when I would have McDonald’s frequently,” Shipley shared.
