- flushem: “I bought two iron sets (747V & Rose Proto) from eBay dealer. They are genuine and in good shape. My recommendation is to buy used set (usually demo set) from them just in case you want to sell them. I also filled my bag with driver, 3w, and hybrids in addition. I mixed 747V (5-7) and Rose Proto (8 – 10). I thought RP would be very hard irons to hit, but they are as forgiving/hard as 747V for me. IMO, RP irons are very playable, honest, consistent and soft. Above all, they are dirt cheap, so you can’t go wrong. Strongly recommended. “
- endy: “I played with them a short time and got along with them pretty well. I really liked the look of them, and they weren’t too difficult to hit in my opinion, it’s just the Z Forged were a little more forgiving, and sole interaction was better for me.”
- Mookieb10: “I have a nice set of Rose Protos, 4-PW. They are a lovely iron. Everything you’d want in a true blade. For some reason, I’ve not gotten along with them, though. I play x flex shafts all the time, but these C-taper Stiff+ are just too much shaft for me. I don’t know if it’s a swingweight issue, a total weight issue or what, but I just haven’t played well with them.”
Neal Shipley was the first to admit that he enjoyed his food while in college. But since his days at Ohio State, he’s slimmed down and earned a PGA Tour Card.
That hasn’t stopped him from having fun with his wedge stampings, though it’s led to some misunderstandings.
On the 54 (degree), we have ‘Big Fudge,'” Shipley told GolfWRX. “It was supposed to be ‘Big Fridge,’ so this happened a little while ago. ‘Big Fridge’ was a nickname between my college teammates and I, with ‘fridge’ meaning stomach, a big stomach.
“We told the Ping guys to put … ‘Big Fridge’ on it, and I think maybe some bad cell service or something, and they thought I said ‘fudge,’ so they put fudge on it.”
On Shipley’s 50-degree he also continues the food theme, this time with his go-to order at the “Golden Arches,” and his stamping “DONS 7.”
“The number 7 meal, the two cheeseburger meal, that was my McDonald’s order, back when I would have McDonald’s frequently,” Shipley shared.
