Cobra-Puma signs Jesper Parnevik

Published

on

Cobra-Puma Golf has signed five-time PGA Tour winner Jesper Parnevik to an endorsement contract that will have the stylish Swede sporting Puma apparel and using Cobra golf equipment

Parnevik, 47, has also won five times on the European Tour, but it has been almost 12 years since the three-time Ryder Cup member won his last event, the 2001 Honda Classic. He made one cut in three events on the PGA Tour in 2012, a tie for 76th at the Transitions Championship.

“Cobra Puma Golf and Jesper Parnevik are a perfect match,” said Bob Philion, President of Cobra Puma Golf. “He has been a world class performer and a pioneer of modern golf fashion on the global golf stage for over 20 years; making him the perfect blend of performance and style that Cobra Puma Golf embraces. We’re excited to see him return to the PGA Tour and embody the Cobra Puma Golf spirit on and off the course.”

According to Cobra-Puma, Parnevik Jesper will be wearing products from Puma Golf’s Spring/Summer 2013 Collection along with the all new Tux Lux golf shoe, part of PUMA Golf’s Lux footwear collection. He will play the following equipment:

Driver: AMP CELL Pro Silver (adjusted to 7.5 degrees)
Fairway: AMP CELL Pro Prototype in Silver (adjusted to 13 degrees)
Irons: AMP Forged Irons (3 iron through pitching wedge)
Wedges: Trusty Rusty in Rust finish —  49 and 53 degrees

“I’m thrilled to be part of the Cobra-Puma Golf team,” Parnevik said. “They’re not afraid to do things a little differently. I’ve played Cobra and worn Puma in the past; both brands provide top performing gear that shakes things up on the course. I’m so excited to have the new 2013 gear ready to go, and add my style to the line at the same time; Cobra-Puma Golf is a great fit for me.”

Parnevik caught the golf world’s attention with his parody of PSY’s “Gangam Style,” a music video that cast fellow Swedes Richard S. Johnson and Fredrick Jacobsen, as well as three Americans—Will MacKenzie, Dustin Johnson and Mark Turnesa. He has been recovering from a boating injury in March that nearly severed his right index finger, and is slated to make his return to the PGA Tour at the Humana Classic on Jan. 17. He is playing on a medical exemption, which gives him 12 events to make $620,087 to keep his card.

Following the Humana Challenge, Jesper will make an appearance at the 2013 PGA Merchandise Show at Cobra-Puma Golf’s Demo Day (tee number 8) and booth (1143).

Neal Shipley, AKA, the “Big Fridge’s,” custom stamping

Published

on

Neal Shipley was the first to admit that he enjoyed his food while in college. But since his days at Ohio State, he’s slimmed down and earned a PGA Tour Card.

That hasn’t stopped him from having fun with his wedge stampings, though it’s led to some misunderstandings.

On the 54 (degree), we have ‘Big Fudge,'” Shipley told GolfWRX. “It was supposed to be ‘Big Fridge,’ so this happened a little while ago. ‘Big Fridge’ was a nickname between my college teammates and I, with ‘fridge’ meaning stomach, a big stomach.

“We told the Ping guys to put … ‘Big Fridge’ on it, and I think maybe some bad cell service or something, and they thought I said ‘fudge,’ so they put fudge on it.”

On Shipley’s 50-degree he also continues the food theme, this time with his go-to order at the “Golden Arches,” and his stamping “DONS 7.”

“The number 7 meal, the two cheeseburger meal, that was my McDonald’s order, back when I would have McDonald’s frequently,” Shipley shared.

Check out Shipley’s full what’s in the bag and the rest of his wedge stampings here on “Inside the Ropes” from Colonial.
