Callaway unveils Big Bertha REVA line of womens clubs, including driver, fairway woods, hybrids and irons

Published

on

Callaway Golf has introduced its new Big Bertha REVA line including a driver, fairway woods, hybrids and irons designed to provide women golfers faster ball speeds while helping to promote a higher launch.

Big Bertha REVA Driver

Callaway’s first high launch driver features an ultra-low forward CG designed to produce low spin in a bid to provide more distance and a more consistent ball flight.

The Big Bertha REVA driver contains an A.I. designed Flash Face designed to promote fast ball speeds across a more expansive area in each model and loft. The clubface also features a Super Strength Titanium construction, which per the company is lighter and stronger than traditional titanium in design to provide optimal speed, forgiveness, and spin characteristics.

Two internal Jailbreak bars stiffen the body of the driver in design to allow the face to flex more, while the lighter carbon crown allowed Callaway engineers to redistribute weight resulting in a higher MOI.

In addition, the high MOI Big Bertha head is engineered with internal draw bias weighting in a bid to help improve player’s launch angles and to promote a straighter, longer ball flight.

Specs, Pricing and Availability

The Big Bertha REVA driver comes equipped with a RCH 40 Shaft and a Lamkin Women’s ST Soft Grip. The driver comes in loft options of 10.5 and 12.5 -degrees and hits retail on October 15 at a price of $499.99.

Big Bertha REVA Fairway Woods

The Big Bertha fairway woods contain a shallow face, progressive lengths and an oversized Bertha shape in a bid to provide consistent contact and smooth turf interaction.

The fairway woods feature increased offset in design to reduce slices and promote a distance-enhancing draw bias, while the brand’s A.I Flash Face SS21 which aims to promote fast ball speed across an expansive area is combined with Jailbreak bars that connect the crown and sole in a bid to increase stiffness and provide greater speed.

Specs, Pricing and Availability

The Big Bertha fairway woods come equipped with a lightweight RCH shaft which aims to produce faster swing speeds and a Lamkin Women’s ST Soft grip. The fairway woods arrive in 3W, 5W, 7W and 9W options and hit retail on October 15 at a price of $299.99 each.

Big Bertha REVA Hybrids

Also equipped with Callaway’s A.I. Flash Face SS21; the Big Bertha REVA hybrids feature increased offset to guard against slices and to help to promote a straighter ball flight for added distance.

The hybrids also feature two internal Jailbreak bars that connect the sole and crown so that the face can take on more of the load at impact. Per Callaway, the hybrids contain a significantly lighter carbon crown that allowed engineers to redistribute weight to create higher MOI in a forgiving shape.

In addition, the hybrids contain dual MIM’ed tungsten weighting producing an optimized CG in design for ease of launch and stability.

Specs, Pricing and Availability

The Big Bertha hybrids come equipped with an all-new RCH shaft, which per the company was designed to specifically increase swing speed, along with a Lamkin ST Grip. The hybrids, which arrive in 4H, 5H, 6H, 7H and 8H options, hit retail on October 15 at a price of $249.99 each.

Big Bertha REVA Irons

The Big Bertha REVA irons are the first irons to feature Callaway’s A.I.-designed Flash Face Cup. In addition, the irons also feature Visible Tungsten Energy Core (VTEC) – designed to deepen the CG to make the irons extremely easy to launch.

The irons feature wider soles which aim to provide golfers with more confidence at address, while the added offset on these REVA irons is designed to promote easy launch, lower spin and straighter shots.

Completing the Big Bertha REVA irons is the brand’s urethane microspheres which are engineered to absorb unwanted vibration for excellent feel, while also maintaining fast ball speeds.

Specs, Pricing and Availability

The Big Bertha REVA irons come equipped with a speed-enhancing RCH Shaft and a Lamkin Women’s ST Soft Grip. The irons, which arrive in lofts of 5-PW, A, S, hit retail on October 15 and cost $999.99 (Graphite 7-piece).

Neal Shipley, AKA, the “Big Fridge’s,” custom stamping

Published

on

Neal Shipley was the first to admit that he enjoyed his food while in college. But since his days at Ohio State, he’s slimmed down and earned a PGA Tour Card.

That hasn’t stopped him from having fun with his wedge stampings, though it’s led to some misunderstandings.

On the 54 (degree), we have ‘Big Fudge,'” Shipley told GolfWRX. “It was supposed to be ‘Big Fridge,’ so this happened a little while ago. ‘Big Fridge’ was a nickname between my college teammates and I, with ‘fridge’ meaning stomach, a big stomach.

“We told the Ping guys to put … ‘Big Fridge’ on it, and I think maybe some bad cell service or something, and they thought I said ‘fudge,’ so they put fudge on it.”

On Shipley’s 50-degree he also continues the food theme, this time with his go-to order at the “Golden Arches,” and his stamping “DONS 7.”

“The number 7 meal, the two cheeseburger meal, that was my McDonald’s order, back when I would have McDonald’s frequently,” Shipley shared.

Check out Shipley’s full what’s in the bag and the rest of his wedge stampings here on “Inside the Ropes” from Colonial.
