18Birdies AI Coach: Golf’s first video-based swing analyzer
18Birdies has launched golf’s first video-based swing analyzer that uses the power of artificial intelligence to help golfers improve their game: AI Coach.
18Birdies’ AI Coach combines a video swing analyzer and personalized improvement recommendations in design to revolutionize the way golfers analyze, understand and improve their game.
The swing analysis and instruction tool works by golfers recording a video of their swing with the 18Birdies app with the video then analyzed and given a swing score. Through this score and the basic swing flaws which the app identifies, the AI Coach then delivers personalized drill recommendations designed to help the user improve their game.

Speaking on the new AI Coach app, Eddy Lui, founder and CEO of 18Birdies said
“For decades, golfers have been given limited choices when it comes to receiving instruction. They could either pay an arm and a leg for in-person coaching or try to implement generic tips and drills gathered from the other golfers on the range or the internet without guidance as to how to apply to their specific game. In fact, on average less than 20% of golfers take a lesson in a given year. AI Coach brings golf instruction into the future and fills this obvious gap in the market, providing golfers custom-tailored instruction based on their own swing wherever and whenever they want. It is a great way for both beginners and experienced golfers to receive meaningful instruction on their own terms.”

In addition, swing videos can be taken indoors or outdoors and don’t require the use of a club, allowing users to analyze and improve their swing on their own time – whether it be on the course, range or at home.
18Birdies’ AI Coach is available now for download in both the App Store and Google Play as a part of its premium subscription which offers free trials.

Neal Shipley, AKA, the “Big Fridge’s,” custom stamping
Neal Shipley was the first to admit that he enjoyed his food while in college. But since his days at Ohio State, he’s slimmed down and earned a PGA Tour Card.
That hasn’t stopped him from having fun with his wedge stampings, though it’s led to some misunderstandings.
On the 54 (degree), we have ‘Big Fudge,'” Shipley told GolfWRX. “It was supposed to be ‘Big Fridge,’ so this happened a little while ago. ‘Big Fridge’ was a nickname between my college teammates and I, with ‘fridge’ meaning stomach, a big stomach.

“We told the Ping guys to put … ‘Big Fridge’ on it, and I think maybe some bad cell service or something, and they thought I said ‘fudge,’ so they put fudge on it.”
On Shipley’s 50-degree he also continues the food theme, this time with his go-to order at the “Golden Arches,” and his stamping “DONS 7.”
“The number 7 meal, the two cheeseburger meal, that was my McDonald’s order, back when I would have McDonald’s frequently,” Shipley shared.
