What GolfWRXers are saying about Ping’s i200 and i210 irons

Published

on

In our forums, our members have been comparing and contrasting Ping’s i200 and i210 irons. WRXer ‘gvogel’ asks fellow members whether there is much of a difference between the two, and WRXers have been sharing their thoughts in our forum.

Here are a few posts from the thread, but make sure to check out the entire discussion and have your say at the link below.

  • halfsumo: “Owned both. The i210 look a bit better IMO. Feel? Not sure how much different but i210 could feel a touch thicker/softer off the face while the 200 I perceived to be a thinner/crisper feeling. Performance? Not much.”
  • padge1984: “I had both. Preferred the 200s. 210s had a little less feel to me.”
  • dmeeksDC: “Ping definitely set out to make the 210 feel softer, and they succeeded. I like the looks of both. I owned the 200s and only tested the 210. The 200 felt more firm to me in a good way. Feel and sound both were pleasing. So it is whichever you like. Very fine clubs that are easy to play. Performance was the same or very close to it.”
  • Hougz79: “Gamed both, love both. I prefer the 210s. I do enjoy a softer feel. The 200s felt acceptably soft. I had pro soft inserts in
  • DG 300. The 210s are softer, noticeably. For me, that’s preferred. Short irons are deadly in 210s.”
  • Chuck905: “I agree, the 210 are softer than the 200; I was turned off by the 200. I couldn’t argue with the results on the 210, so I had to buy them lol. Still not as soft as forged but very impressive feel and consistency for a cast iron.”

Can a ping fan explain to me why they prefer a ping iron that trys to feel like a forged iron to an actual forged iron?

Neal Shipley, AKA, the “Big Fridge’s,” custom stamping

Published

on

Neal Shipley was the first to admit that he enjoyed his food while in college. But since his days at Ohio State, he’s slimmed down and earned a PGA Tour Card.

That hasn’t stopped him from having fun with his wedge stampings, though it’s led to some misunderstandings.

On the 54 (degree), we have ‘Big Fudge,'” Shipley told GolfWRX. “It was supposed to be ‘Big Fridge,’ so this happened a little while ago. ‘Big Fridge’ was a nickname between my college teammates and I, with ‘fridge’ meaning stomach, a big stomach.

“We told the Ping guys to put … ‘Big Fridge’ on it, and I think maybe some bad cell service or something, and they thought I said ‘fudge,’ so they put fudge on it.”

On Shipley’s 50-degree he also continues the food theme, this time with his go-to order at the “Golden Arches,” and his stamping “DONS 7.”

“The number 7 meal, the two cheeseburger meal, that was my McDonald’s order, back when I would have McDonald’s frequently,” Shipley shared.

Check out Shipley’s full what’s in the bag and the rest of his wedge stampings here on “Inside the Ropes” from Colonial.
