What GolfWRXers are saying about Srixon’s Z-745 irons
In our forums, our members have been discussing Srixon’s Z-745 irons after ‘bogeyblues20’ asked for feedback on the clubs from fellow members. WRXers have been sharing their experience with the irons, with members calling the clubs “ultra forgiving”, “the softest feeling irons I’ve ever played”, and more.
Here are a few posts from the thread, but make sure to check out the entire discussion and have your say at the link below.
- rufusmangler: “Still play them. Awesome, low profile look. All the top lines blend into each other. The feel on center hits is beautiful. Halfway decent forgiveness on off center contact. Love the wider V-sole. The V shaped muscle in back just powers through the ball.”
- manima1: “I play them, and they are the best irons I’ve ever gamed. For a smaller players muscle cavity, they are ultra forgiving. The look and feel are 10/10. The only Cons: This is going to be a con for any soft forged iron, but while that soft forging promotes excellent feel, the bag chatter and wear and tear over the course of a few seasons is significant. You should see my 9 iron after a shot out of a waste area on a recent Troon North trip lol.”
- gripandrip: “Currently playing them and have no plans to change until they wear out. Softest feeling irons I have ever played. You’ll hear lots of comments about the V-sole, both for and against, but it works great for me. I play them in a Steelfiber i95S shaft. I have only found a couple of clubs that I would change them out for. Maybe the Honma TW 747V. I hit the new Wilson blades the other day and were very impressed by those as well.”
- chinaski: “This is my 4th season with them. They are perfect irons. I would buy another set if I could find one new. I checked Golf Avenue, and they aren’t there. There was a set of 945 new for $450 I really regret passing on a couple of months ago. I agree on the shaping of the 765, they are too rounded, but they are still great irons as well. I have the 765 AW. It feels great, but the shaping kinda bugs me.”
- Oldboy: “I’ve had these for several seasons now. I think a year after they were released. I’ve never thought about replacing them. I did switch out the 4, and eventually, the 5 iron for 5 series as I’ve had kids don’t play as much and got old. Just to keep the gaps in the long irons. I’ve had multiple wood changes but never think of switching out my irons. Classics.”

Neal Shipley, AKA, the “Big Fridge’s,” custom stamping
Neal Shipley was the first to admit that he enjoyed his food while in college. But since his days at Ohio State, he’s slimmed down and earned a PGA Tour Card.
That hasn’t stopped him from having fun with his wedge stampings, though it’s led to some misunderstandings.
On the 54 (degree), we have ‘Big Fudge,'” Shipley told GolfWRX. “It was supposed to be ‘Big Fridge,’ so this happened a little while ago. ‘Big Fridge’ was a nickname between my college teammates and I, with ‘fridge’ meaning stomach, a big stomach.

“We told the Ping guys to put … ‘Big Fridge’ on it, and I think maybe some bad cell service or something, and they thought I said ‘fudge,’ so they put fudge on it.”
On Shipley’s 50-degree he also continues the food theme, this time with his go-to order at the “Golden Arches,” and his stamping “DONS 7.”
“The number 7 meal, the two cheeseburger meal, that was my McDonald’s order, back when I would have McDonald’s frequently,” Shipley shared.
