Adidas Golf athletes to wear new PrimeBlue Collection at The Players featuring apparel made from upcycled plastic waste
Adidas Golf athletes at this week’s Players Championship will wear select apparel and footwear made from upcycled plastic waste in the brand’s new PrimeBlue Collection.
The more sustainable collection is made from Adidas’ new PrimeBlue material made in part with Parley Ocean Plastic. This upcycled plastic waste is intercepted on remote islands, beaches, coastal communities and shorelines, preventing it from polluting the ocean. It is then turned into high-performance polyester yarn used in apparel and footwear.

Included in the unique PrimeBlue collection are two polos and shorts for men, and a sleeveless polo and skirt for women. Limited edition footwear for both men and women made from upcycled plastic waste is also featured in the collection, with the shoes designed from Adidas’ new CodeChaos silhouette – the latest footwear from the brand.

Adidas Golf’s PrimeBlue Collection is part of a larger Three Loop Strategy announced last month from the brand that outlines Adidas’ aim to end plastic waste. In the company’s spring/summer 2020 golf collection alone, 71 percent of the apparel and 75 percent of the footwear uses material made from recycled polyester.

The PrimeBlue collection is available now on adidas.com and at select retailers nationwide.

Neal Shipley, AKA, the “Big Fridge’s,” custom stamping
Neal Shipley was the first to admit that he enjoyed his food while in college. But since his days at Ohio State, he’s slimmed down and earned a PGA Tour Card.
That hasn’t stopped him from having fun with his wedge stampings, though it’s led to some misunderstandings.
On the 54 (degree), we have ‘Big Fudge,'” Shipley told GolfWRX. “It was supposed to be ‘Big Fridge,’ so this happened a little while ago. ‘Big Fridge’ was a nickname between my college teammates and I, with ‘fridge’ meaning stomach, a big stomach.

“We told the Ping guys to put … ‘Big Fridge’ on it, and I think maybe some bad cell service or something, and they thought I said ‘fudge,’ so they put fudge on it.”
On Shipley’s 50-degree he also continues the food theme, this time with his go-to order at the “Golden Arches,” and his stamping “DONS 7.”
“The number 7 meal, the two cheeseburger meal, that was my McDonald’s order, back when I would have McDonald’s frequently,” Shipley shared.
