Bettinardi introduces limited run military-inspired BB56 Armageddon
Crafted from high-grade, Kaiser Aluminum given to Robert Bettinardi by Army Specialist Ryan Finch, the new BB56 Armageddon is one of the most interesting and significant putters the company has produced.
The aluminum is the same material used in the Humvee doors of the 2nd Brigade Combat Team’s vehicles in Iraq.
Bettinardi has turned this special bit of metal into 125 BB56 putters. All are finished with a stealth desert sand finish and hand painted in an orange and brown army paint scheme, and all feature a matching Made in USA headcover featuring MOLLE Webbing.
Specs
- Material: High-grade (Military) Kaiser 6061 Aluminum
- Insert: 303 Stainless Steel Topline
- Face Milling: Floating Fit-face
- Weight: 350 grams
- Finish: Stealth Desert Sand TPT
- Lie: 70 degree
- Loft: 2 degrees
- Grip: Bettinardi Lamkin Deep Etched Cord Orange Grip
The BB56 Armageddon will be available in The Hive, this Thursday starting at 10 AM CST and at select Bettinardi Specialty Accounts starting on Friday, June 25th. Only 125 putters were made.
A portion of the proceeds of the sale of this limited edition putter will go to benefit the Warriors of Freedom Charity, founded by Major Ed Pulido, Brett Dick, and Scott Momper in 2012 with the mission to improve the lives of our nation’s heroes and their families.

Neal Shipley, AKA, the “Big Fridge’s,” custom stamping
Neal Shipley was the first to admit that he enjoyed his food while in college. But since his days at Ohio State, he’s slimmed down and earned a PGA Tour Card.
That hasn’t stopped him from having fun with his wedge stampings, though it’s led to some misunderstandings.
On the 54 (degree), we have ‘Big Fudge,'” Shipley told GolfWRX. “It was supposed to be ‘Big Fridge,’ so this happened a little while ago. ‘Big Fridge’ was a nickname between my college teammates and I, with ‘fridge’ meaning stomach, a big stomach.

“We told the Ping guys to put … ‘Big Fridge’ on it, and I think maybe some bad cell service or something, and they thought I said ‘fudge,’ so they put fudge on it.”
On Shipley’s 50-degree he also continues the food theme, this time with his go-to order at the “Golden Arches,” and his stamping “DONS 7.”
“The number 7 meal, the two cheeseburger meal, that was my McDonald’s order, back when I would have McDonald’s frequently,” Shipley shared.

6061 military grade aluminum comes from Canadian smelters…. but the putter is still ‘made’ in the USA. Why do you think Trump is putting tariffs on aluminum?!!

Luckily, it’s being sold to benefit Veterans charities. Otherwise it would be a jingoistic, vulgarity.

Gorgeous, simply gorgeous …. a technological piéce de resistance that would make any golfer proud to bag this metallurgical wonder. My golfing buddies would turn green with envy if this beautiful Betti was in WIMB arsenal of weapons.

Dumb. He should have separated himself from Parsons. I’ll never look at Bettinardi again

Betti aiming for the “price doesn’t matter” market… duffers with more money than brains or talent. After all, you are what you own.

Whatever. There is absolutely nothing special about 6061 aluminum. It’s the heat treatment practice that makes the difference between Humvee doors and putters.
