GolfWRX’s photos of Tiger Woods’ irons through the years

Published

on

From the time he emerged on Tour with a blended set of Mizuno irons, through his Titleist 681 irons, through his transition to Nike blades, Tiger Woods’ forged blade irons have had a similar look and similar specs.

Since the 14-time major champion inked a deal with TaylorMade in 2017, GolfWRX Members have been eagerly waiting to see what irons Tiger Woods, TaylorMade staffer, would play. Woods had been gaming a set of TGR Prototype irons while working with TM to design a set of irons. But finally, we got an in-hand look at the long-anticipated TaylorMade TW-Phase1 irons at the Wells Fargo Championship on Tuesday.

See what GolfWRX members are saying about the TW-Phase 1 irons here.

Here’s an in-hand look at Woods’ hot-off-the-polishing wheel TW-Phase1 8-iron.

Flashing all the way back to 2012 (the early days of the GolfWRX main page!), here are a couple of shots of Woods’ Nike VR Pro Blades.

In 2013, we spotted Woods with another VR Pro Blade model

In 2014, more of the same/similar Nike VR Pro Blades

In 2015, the Big Cat switched to Nike Vapor Pro Blades

…but then he returned to Nike VR Pro irons during his injury-marred 2016-2017 campaign

When Woods returned at the 2017 Hero World Challenge, through his appearance at this year’s Masters, he was was gaming these TGR Prototypes.

And as a bonus throwback: This forum picture of Tiger’s Nike irons from way back in 2005.

And before all that it was PING, which he probably should go back too. After all, he has all the money he needs, now it is all about playing, and,,,,,,,,,winning?

Beautiful new irons in Tigers bag. Guess there is no hi tech in these. That picture of his putter looks pretty dinged up. If it’s always covered I don’t see how it got so banged up. I keep mine covered and it looks great still

Yeah, what is Tiger doing with his putter? Flying around the world all the time playing golf or something?

I just love the look Tiger’s new TM blades but I’m happy with my fantastic PXGs better than advertised.

Neal Shipley, AKA, the “Big Fridge’s,” custom stamping

Published

on

Neal Shipley was the first to admit that he enjoyed his food while in college. But since his days at Ohio State, he’s slimmed down and earned a PGA Tour Card.

That hasn’t stopped him from having fun with his wedge stampings, though it’s led to some misunderstandings.

On the 54 (degree), we have ‘Big Fudge,'” Shipley told GolfWRX. “It was supposed to be ‘Big Fridge,’ so this happened a little while ago. ‘Big Fridge’ was a nickname between my college teammates and I, with ‘fridge’ meaning stomach, a big stomach.

“We told the Ping guys to put … ‘Big Fridge’ on it, and I think maybe some bad cell service or something, and they thought I said ‘fudge,’ so they put fudge on it.”

On Shipley’s 50-degree he also continues the food theme, this time with his go-to order at the “Golden Arches,” and his stamping “DONS 7.”

“The number 7 meal, the two cheeseburger meal, that was my McDonald’s order, back when I would have McDonald’s frequently,” Shipley shared.

Check out Shipley’s full what’s in the bag and the rest of his wedge stampings here on “Inside the Ropes” from Colonial.
