Callaway launches a new X Forged UT driving iron

Published

on

For Tour players and amateurs alike, driving irons have become a popular and versatile option off the tee. Callaway began offering the Apex UT in 2014, and you’ll still find this club in a number of Tour players’ golf bags. Now, there will be a new driving iron in Callaway’s stable of products: a Callaway X Forged UT. This is the utility iron version of the company’s new X Forged irons that it released in mid-October.

The X Forged UT was designed based on feedback from its Tour staffers, and it has a CG (center of gravity) that’s positioned in the center of the face, and it’s designed for a low, penetrating ball flight, according to Callaway. There’s a also a Tungsten-infused insert to help produce more forgiveness, and the face has Callaway’s familiar 360 Face Cup for increased ball speeds on off-center hits.

They will come in 18, 21, 24 27 and 30 degree lofts with stock Project X 6.0 shafts, and will sell for $249.99 apiece starting on January 19.

Well, I guess it’s time for cally to bring out a new flavor of the month or is it flavor of the week? I get confused by so many releases of the new better than ever club.Looks striking like the Wilson-Staff V6 model !!! the V6 looks better and it was selected the best Forged irons of 2017.

Rich … Firstly this is a utility iron, aka driving iron – hybrid replacement. This is only the third of this style of club callaway has released in almost 5 years. You are complaining about something you clearly have no clue about.

Neal Shipley, AKA, the “Big Fridge’s,” custom stamping

Published

on

Neal Shipley was the first to admit that he enjoyed his food while in college. But since his days at Ohio State, he’s slimmed down and earned a PGA Tour Card.

That hasn’t stopped him from having fun with his wedge stampings, though it’s led to some misunderstandings.

On the 54 (degree), we have ‘Big Fudge,'” Shipley told GolfWRX. “It was supposed to be ‘Big Fridge,’ so this happened a little while ago. ‘Big Fridge’ was a nickname between my college teammates and I, with ‘fridge’ meaning stomach, a big stomach.

“We told the Ping guys to put … ‘Big Fridge’ on it, and I think maybe some bad cell service or something, and they thought I said ‘fudge,’ so they put fudge on it.”

On Shipley’s 50-degree he also continues the food theme, this time with his go-to order at the “Golden Arches,” and his stamping “DONS 7.”

“The number 7 meal, the two cheeseburger meal, that was my McDonald’s order, back when I would have McDonald’s frequently,” Shipley shared.

Check out Shipley’s full what’s in the bag and the rest of his wedge stampings here on “Inside the Ropes” from Colonial.
