Xander Schauffele signs with adidas Golf and Callaway

Published

on

Xander Schauffele is getting a whole new look and arsenal heading into 2018.

After officially announcing that it signed 2017 Masters Champion and future Hall-of-Famer Sergio Garcia, Callaway announced today that it has signed one of the game’s top rising stars in 2017 Rookie of the Year, Xander Schauffele. adidas Golf has also signed Schauffele to a multi-year apparel and footwear deal.

“I’m honored to be a part of the Callaway team,” said Schauffele, according to a Callaway press release. “I’m focused on taking my game to a new level, and having the right equipment plays a big part in that. I’ve been so impressed with how Callaway clubs have performed for me, from the first time I started testing them during the offseason, and I’ve been using an Odyssey putter for years. So this really was a natural transition, and I’m really confident in how their equipment will help improve every part of my game.”

Schauffele — who will play Callaway metalwoods, irons, wedges, an Odyssey putter and a Chrome Soft golf ball — had a break out 2016-2017 season. He won the 2017 Greenbrier, finished T5 at the 2017 U.S. Open, and then won the 2017 Tour Championship to finish third overall in the FedExCup Playoffs. The 24-year-old is currently ranked 25th on the Official World Golf Rankings after turning professional in 2015; he earned his PGA Tour card through the Web.com Finals.

As always, we will provide photos of all his new clubs and shafts once we have them! Stay tuned.

I am so pleased with [insert name of manufacturer] clubs as they are paying me more money than any other manufacturer is willing to do. Off the record. I can play the same with any manufacturer’s clubs.

Why has the latest Tursky equipment article, namely:
“That one time Dustin Johnson got super protective over his M3 weight setup”
    …… cancelled the Comments section?
The M3 with the controversial TWIST FACE on the M3 driver is possibly one of the most groundbreaking design innovation in driver technology.
As for Dustin’s M3 weight setup shown in the picture, it appears he wants the weights shifted closest to the clubface thus bringing the driver CG well forward. Recreational golfers will want to have the CG pulled back for more gear effect.
Now the gear effect is being optimized with the Twist Face.
Why has WRX eliminated a comments section on this article and others?

Neal Shipley, AKA, the “Big Fridge’s,” custom stamping

Published

on

Neal Shipley was the first to admit that he enjoyed his food while in college. But since his days at Ohio State, he’s slimmed down and earned a PGA Tour Card.

That hasn’t stopped him from having fun with his wedge stampings, though it’s led to some misunderstandings.

On the 54 (degree), we have ‘Big Fudge,'” Shipley told GolfWRX. “It was supposed to be ‘Big Fridge,’ so this happened a little while ago. ‘Big Fridge’ was a nickname between my college teammates and I, with ‘fridge’ meaning stomach, a big stomach.

“We told the Ping guys to put … ‘Big Fridge’ on it, and I think maybe some bad cell service or something, and they thought I said ‘fudge,’ so they put fudge on it.”

On Shipley’s 50-degree he also continues the food theme, this time with his go-to order at the “Golden Arches,” and his stamping “DONS 7.”

“The number 7 meal, the two cheeseburger meal, that was my McDonald’s order, back when I would have McDonald’s frequently,” Shipley shared.

Check out Shipley’s full what’s in the bag and the rest of his wedge stampings here on “Inside the Ropes” from Colonial.
