Srixon upgrades Q-Star golf balls for 2017

Published

on

Along with Srixon’s premium Z-Star and Z-Star XV golf balls and the company’s new Q-Star Tour, which offers premium constructions at only $30, Srixon is also releasing an updated version of its Q-Star golf ball. Made for golfers of all swing speeds, and for those who demand balanced performance, the Q-Star golf balls have a two-piece, low-compression design and will sell for $24.99 per dozen.

Like Srixon’s higher-end golf balls, the Q-Star golf balls use the companies Energetic Gradient Growth (E.G.G.) core, which means the core of the golf ball is softer in the center for added long-game distance, and it gets progressively firmer toward the edges for higher spin around the green.

“The Q-Star’s built-in tour technologies should help golfers see great performance in every aspect of their golf game,” said Michael Ross, Senior Product Manager at Srixon. “This is the golf ball for players who seek maximum playability from a more durable, two-piece design.”

The new Q-Star golf balls also have Srixon’s “Spin-Skin” coating, now made with more elastic for more grab around the greens. The outer cover, like Srixon’s higher-end golf balls, has 338 dimples that improve aerodynamics for better control in the wind.

Srixon’s 2017 Q-Star golf balls will be available in stores on August 18.

Q Star Tour is the same as the Pro V but cheaper, so that makes it way better

I want to like Srixon, keep trying the Q-Star but it is not very durable for me. I even went to the Q-Star Tour and not much better….my Duo’s and NXT’s hold up way better IMO.

The Q-Star and Snell My Sum golfs balls are the best IMHO.

Neal Shipley, AKA, the “Big Fridge’s,” custom stamping

Published

on

Neal Shipley was the first to admit that he enjoyed his food while in college. But since his days at Ohio State, he’s slimmed down and earned a PGA Tour Card.

That hasn’t stopped him from having fun with his wedge stampings, though it’s led to some misunderstandings.

On the 54 (degree), we have ‘Big Fudge,'” Shipley told GolfWRX. “It was supposed to be ‘Big Fridge,’ so this happened a little while ago. ‘Big Fridge’ was a nickname between my college teammates and I, with ‘fridge’ meaning stomach, a big stomach.

“We told the Ping guys to put … ‘Big Fridge’ on it, and I think maybe some bad cell service or something, and they thought I said ‘fudge,’ so they put fudge on it.”

On Shipley’s 50-degree he also continues the food theme, this time with his go-to order at the “Golden Arches,” and his stamping “DONS 7.”

“The number 7 meal, the two cheeseburger meal, that was my McDonald’s order, back when I would have McDonald’s frequently,” Shipley shared.

Check out Shipley’s full what’s in the bag and the rest of his wedge stampings here on “Inside the Ropes” from Colonial.
