What happens when a 10 handicap and a +4 handicap go through a full driver fitting at one of the most advanced golf performance centers in the world? Brian Knudson and Andrew Von Lossow headed to the Titleist Performance Institute in Oceanside, California, to find out.
Both players go through a complete Titleist GTS driver fitting with the Titleist fitting team to see how swing speed, launch conditions, strike location, shaft profile, and head setup can completely change performance off the tee. Even though the golfers have very different games, the fitting process reveals just how important proper equipment can be for maximizing distance, tightening dispersion, and improving consistency.
You will see how Titleist fitters analyze every part of the driver setup including loft, weighting, shaft selection, and head model to build a driver specifically for each player’s swing. I used to be hard on golf gloves. I could wear a hole in the palm pad area in no time. At the beginning of last year I switch from the interlock drip to the overlap grip. The problem vanished.
I should add I changed grip size as well. I’ve used undersize grip for so long given my cadet sized hand (short fingers, normal sized palms). When I bought a used set of irons with midsize grips I found I can maintain the contact between the grip and my palm pad, which was the source of excess wear on my gloves.

Golf gloves are made to wear out, PGA players use a new one almost every round (they get them free remember). years ago there were some gloves you could wash and re-use, do not see them advertised anymore…other then the club slipping and you wearing a hole in the palm a golf glove should not wear out as fast as they do Right? Always coming out with new clubs and balls to sell us how about a glove that used properly will last a while?

Yes, they will eventually wear out and yes, they could have improvements for the resistance to sweat and not get crusty too soon; but some golfers wear through and tear their new gloves to shreads way too soon; and it is simply getting the club in the hands properly first and then allowing the swing to release your anatomy so the grips gets to stay put the whole way around the swing.

I’ve gone thru gloves because I can’t get any to fit my meat hooks. When I was younger I could squeeze into the FJ 2x for a few rounds, and 2 seasons ago I bought 2 Bionic XXXL but both busted open before I could finish 18 holes. I enjoy wearing a glove but have come to realization I won’t find one for me. any WRX’ers out there know of a person or company that makes 4xl sized golf gloves I’d appreciate it.

You should try to find Baseball Batting Gloves that fit you and feel good with the grips you use, that don’t slip and feel OK to swing a golf club. There should be plenty of sizes to fit your needs.

I used to go through gloves like water. I switched from an interlocking grip to an pverlapping grip, even though I have “Trumpian” sized hands ( I wear a cadet medium glove). I also switched from 1/16 undersize grips to standard size. My gloves seem to last forever, now. I’m striking the ball better than ever as well.
