UA to give proceeds from limited-edition Spieth One shoes to new First Tee Mexico City

Published

on

In January, Jordan Spieth embarked on a global tour to promote the launch of his Under Armour Spieth One golf shoes that became available to the public on March 1. The tour started in Tokyo and four stops later it ended in Mexico City.

The Mexico City stop is special because along with launching the Spieth One shoe, the event also helped launched the First Tee Mexico City, which has a charitable mission to teach children the game of golf and its values. As part of the event, Spieth gave a clinic to nearly 30 youth attendees, providing advice on warm-up routines, tips and techniques.

“I’m really proud that Under Armour shares my values of supporting junior golf, which is a big part of the Jordan Spieth Family Foundation,” Spieth said in a Q&A at the event. “It’s really special to have a chance to share with the juniors and be a part of this event.”

Under Armour will outfit the First Tee Mexico City, the company said in a press release, and will also give proceeds from the sales of the Mexico Limited-Edition Spieth One shoes to the First Tee Mexico City.

Not to sound old but shoes seemed to be super important in basketball and maybe track and football So Under Armor is trying to get this going in golf? And maybe the Jordan shoes are also trying to get something going. Shoot, I am old for griping about this but to milenials really care about edgy shoes? I thought they were busy churning butter and wearing flannel trying to look like loggers.

Neal Shipley, AKA, the “Big Fridge’s,” custom stamping

Published

on

Neal Shipley was the first to admit that he enjoyed his food while in college. But since his days at Ohio State, he’s slimmed down and earned a PGA Tour Card.

That hasn’t stopped him from having fun with his wedge stampings, though it’s led to some misunderstandings.

On the 54 (degree), we have ‘Big Fudge,'” Shipley told GolfWRX. “It was supposed to be ‘Big Fridge,’ so this happened a little while ago. ‘Big Fridge’ was a nickname between my college teammates and I, with ‘fridge’ meaning stomach, a big stomach.

“We told the Ping guys to put … ‘Big Fridge’ on it, and I think maybe some bad cell service or something, and they thought I said ‘fudge,’ so they put fudge on it.”

On Shipley’s 50-degree he also continues the food theme, this time with his go-to order at the “Golden Arches,” and his stamping “DONS 7.”

“The number 7 meal, the two cheeseburger meal, that was my McDonald’s order, back when I would have McDonald’s frequently,” Shipley shared.

Check out Shipley’s full what’s in the bag and the rest of his wedge stampings here on “Inside the Ropes” from Colonial.
