Professional golf tours across the world have made their full return this week. As the major tours of the women and men return to competition, venues are familiar once more and spectacular shots once more win the day. This week’s mash includes a menu from Qatar to San Diego to Myanmar, with some Bahamas thrown in for accent. Have a spoonful to sample the flavors.

PGA Tour: Rahm’s first win

If anyone hits a better putt at a more important time in 2017, then we’re in for a quite a treat. Jon Rahm, aka @LittleJRmaza on the Tweet, joined the PGA Tour in 2016 after finishing as low amateur at the U.S. Open at Oakmont. Rahm earned his tour card through exemptions and performance, then found himself tied late Sunday for the lead at the Farmers with names like Patrick Rodgers, Tony Finau and C.T. Pan. While the remainder of the field could do no better than 10-under par (Charles Howell III and Pan), Rahm stuck an approach inside 10 feet on 17 for birdie, then chased a hybrid over the water on 18 to set up a closing eagle. Rahm won his first PGA Tour event by three strokes and moved into 6th spot on the FedEx Cup chase.

Web.Com Tour: Great Abaco Classic goes to Landry

Andrew Landry of the USA grabbed our attention in 2016 with his U.S. Open performance. He didn’t win, but his grit earned him the respect of fans and fellow players. Early last week, Landry captured the second Web.Com event of the new season, finishing 16-under for a three-stroke victory over Scotland’s Jimmy Dunn. Players battled winds for the second straight week in paradise. For Wednesday’s final round at Abaco, the zephyrs finally subsided and low scores returned.

Dunn, China’s Zecheng Dou and the USA’s Chase Parker were all in the winter mix as the final nine holes rolled out. It was Landry who played flawless golf on the inward half. Two birdies and his second eagle of the day gave the Texan his second Web.Com tour victory and a head start on a PGA Tour card for 2017-18.

LPGA: Pure Silk Bahamas Classic

Brittany Lincicome burst from the gate on Sunday with five birdies in her first seven holes. The two-time major winner lapsed a bit on the back nine, but her final-round 68 brought her to 26-under on the week and tied with overnight leader Lexi Thompson. The two marched off toward a playoff, where Lincicome made short work of things with a first-hole birdie for her seventh tour victory.

Thompson’s intensive work over the last year on the practice green showed as the Florida native piled on the birdies all week long. Sunday was a battle of nerves, and the Florida native nearly pulled out her 8th tour victory. Lincicome had lost her first four Tour playoffs, but Sunday’s win in extra time marked her second consecutive victory in overtime. Long-time Tour No. 1-ranked Stacy Lewis finished in third place, one stroke out of the playoff. Lewis seemed to be in command, but a 14th-hole, triple bogey flat-tired her effort.

European Tour: Qatar Masters to Jeunghun Wang

Jeunghun Wang of Korea pulled a Lincicome in the weekend’s first tour playoff. The 21-year old grabbed his third European Tour title with birdie on the first playoff hole in Doha. Sweden’s Joakim Lagergren and South Africa’s Jaco Van Zyl each went low on Sunday (66 and 68, respectively) to force extra holes with the overnight leader.

On the par-five 18th, Van Zyl was in the driver’s seat after reaching in two, while Wang was over the green with his bold second shot. Three putts later, Van Zyl made a gut-wrenching par. Wang was able to negotiate his pitch shot and drain the putt for a dramatic victory. Van Zyl will have to drown his sorrows in the BMWi8 he won two weeks ago with a hole-in-one.

Asian Tour: Myanmar Open to unlikely victor Sinnott

Todd Sinnott of Australia had his struggles early in the week, but he found a way to make the cut. The 24-year old pro from Melbourne caught fire on the weekend, posting 64-65 to catapult past the leaders and claim a three-shot triumph at the Asian Tour’s second event of 2017.

Sinnott had 12 birdies and an eagle over his final 36 holes. His card during that stretch was marred by just one bogey. Yusaki Miyazato of Japan held the third-round lead, but his closing 73 dropped him all the way to a tie for sixth. Carlos Pigem of Spain, attempting to emulate countryman Jon Rahm’s win on the U.S. Tour, nearly pulled off the trick. His closing 68 jumped him up two spots, into second place.
