Danny Willett’s brother throws shade at all Americans in fiery post
Danny Willett, the 2016 Masters Champion and European Ryder Cup Team member, will have an extra large target on his back at Hazeltine this week due to an article posted by his outspoken brother, P.J.
Remember when P.J. had golf Twitter in stitches while live tweeting his brother’s bid to win the Green Jacket, and a made a few jokes at Jordan Spieth’s expense?
Yea, well his digs at Americans probably won’t go over as well. Below is an excerpt from his post in the National Club Golfer, where he defends his brother and his team by ripping into Americans.
Team USA have only won five of the last 16 Ryder Cups. Four of those five victories have come on home soil. For the Americans to stand a chance of winning, they need their baying mob of imbeciles to caress their egos every step of the way. Like one of those brainless bastards from your childhood, the one that pulled down your shorts during the school’s Christmas assembly (f**k you, Paul Jennings), they only have the courage to keg you if they’re backed up by a giggling group of reprobates. Team Europe needs to shut those groupies up.
They need to silence the pudgy, basement-dwelling, irritants, stuffed on cookie dough and pissy beer, pausing between mouthfuls of hotdog so they can scream ‘Baba booey’ until their jelly faces turn red.
They need to stun the angry, unwashed, Make America Great Again swarm, desperately gripping their concealed-carry compensators and belting out a mini-erection inducing ‘mashed potato,’ hoping to impress their cousin.
They need to smash the obnoxious dads, with their shiny teeth, Lego man hair, medicated ex-wives, and resentful children. Squeezed into their cargo shorts and boating shoes, they’ll bellow ‘get in the hole’ whilst high-fiving all the other members of the Dentists’ Big Game Hunt Society.
Tell us how you really feel, P.J.!
Trent from Barstool Sports has already labelled Danny Willett as Public Enemy No. 1 at Hazeltine this week, and the story is everywhere in the social media sphere. And even though captain Darren Clarke has indicated Danny doesn’t stand behind his brother’s remarks, we’re expecting the fans in Minnesota won’t be eager to make a distinction between the sentiments of the brothers Willett.
What do you think about P.J.’s remarks? Extremely out of line? Envelope-pushing pre-competition propaganda?

Tour Tech Rundown: Heroic Henley
Around the world, the golf wheel spun this final week in May of 2026. From New Jersey to Austria, with stops in Korea, Texas, and North Carolina (don’t let me route your next trip) the world’s finest put their golf games on display. There were three playoffs, some known commodities and some new talent. It was the sort of week that we hope to have at this point in the seasons. June and July afford double-digit major events, and perhaps, one of this week’s champions will use this success as a springboard to new heights. Time to run it all down, tech style, in this week’s Tour Tech Rundown.
Thanks to WITBHub, Today’s Golfer, GolfWRX, and Inside Tour Golf for initial research into equipment.
PGA Tour @ Charles Schwab Challenge: Heroic Henley denies Cole
Eric Cole did nearly everything that a fellow can do, to secure a first PGA Tour title. He stayed one shot clear of Ryder Cup player Ben Griffin. He kept US Open champion Gary Woodland and wunderkind Michael Brennan two shots distant. He posted 70 on day four to reach twelve under par. And then, Russell Henley revealed his Dr. Strange cloak. Henley made 47 feet of birdie putts on holes 16, 17, and 18, to jump from minus-nine to twelve-deep, and secured a spot in a playoff with Cole. The duo returned to the final tee, and put on a stripe show.
Both golfers found the fairway off the tee, and Henley improved on his regulation play with an approach to four feet. Cole did himself proud, tucking an iron to a dozen feet, but he was unable to convert the putt for three. Henley is one of the best putters on tour, and he proved it once more by draining a putt for a fourth consecutive birdie, and a sixth PGA Tour title. For Eric Cole, that first victory should come, and soon. He has done everything necessary to earn the chalice lift.

LPGA @ Shoprite LPGA: Welcome back, Celine!
Soo Bin Joo had her eyes on a maiden LPGA title. She held the lead after two rounds, then hit a red light at the intersection of can-I and how-To. Joo posted plus-two on day three in New Jersey, and dropped to a T4 finish, which was still a career-best for the young Korean golfer. Instead of a new face, a familiar face returned to the top of the podium.
Celine Boutier was the It Girl in 2023. She collected four victories, including a major title at Evian. Boutier reached world number one status, then simply faded into the background. No wins came her way over the next 30 months. On Sunday, she collected LPGA victory number seven, at the same trace as LPGA victory number two.
Day three saw Boutier manage the windswept Seaview Bay course with six birdies and a bogey. She was challenged in the end by Thailand’s Arpichaya Yubol, who signed for a 66 of her own. Yubol came up one shot shy of the top ladder rung. Finishing in third place at -7, two back of the winner, was Ireland’s Lauren Walsh.

DP World Tour @ Austrian Alpine: KK? KK!
Kota Kaneko has a rhythmic name. It has strong vowels and a run of voiceless stops in its crunchy K sounds. On Sunday in Austria, Kaneko put a stop to a challenge from Portugal’s Ricardo Gouveia and everyone else, and claimed a first-ever title on the DP World Tour. Gouveia did well to reach 16-under par over four days, but Kaneko held firm, two shots in the clear.
Davis Bryant of the USA also forged a strong challenge for the win. He ended in a tie with Gouveia for second place. Kaneko began and finished his final round in a bit of a malaise, but he caught fire midway through. Birdies at 10, 12, and 13 provided the necessary cushion to cruise to the finish line without breaking a serious sweat.

Korn Ferry Tour @ UNC Health Championship: Improbably Alvaro
Alvaro Ortiz may have had a bit of scare on the outward nine on Sunday, but he came through in clutch fashion in the end. Ortiz began the day bogey-double, and added another double bogey at the 11th hole. He was mired in a downward trend, spiraling away from the top of the leader’s board. Ortiz found hope at the 14th, where his first birdie of the day tumbled home. Inspired, he closed with birdies and 17 and 18 to catch Ross Steelman at 10-under par, and the duo returned to the 18th deck for overtime.
The extra session concluded in brief time. Ortiz, buoyed by his newly-retrieved confidence, hit the fairway with driver, then approached to six feet and drained the putt. Gobsmacked, Steelman could do little more than smile and applaud, as his run at the top came to a close. The victory was the first for Ortiz on the KFT, and will implant him squarely in the chase for a PGA Tour promotion.

LIV @ Korea: Me llamo Joaquin
Chile’s Joaquin Niemann had been away from the LIV winner’s circle throughout all of 2026. This week in Korea, he reminded us that he is still a force to consider. Niemann chased down Taylor Gooch over the closing holes at Asiad Country Club, then claimed victory with a hole-one birdie in extra time. Bryson DeChambeau claimed solo third, one shot in arrears at minus-eleven. Dustin Johnson finished on fourth, one putt farther back.

Absolutely agree!
I cannot believe that there was a lengthy debate about PJ, particularly when Danny doesn’t even look like it has bothered him.
The crowd have been complete muppets. That is where the focus should be. The amount of completely rubbish human beings that have been goading the European team from the crowd is uncanny.
Ban this pathetic competition to the relics of history. The idiot hot dog munching, red faced gibbons that are drunk in two bud lites have turned the competition into a farce.

And I don’t mean that to be cryptic. It simply means the guy is an obvious loser. He is a yeast infection.

That doesn’t even go close to answering the question. You cannot possibly deduce that he isn’t a golf fan from one post about golf. Ridiculous.
Bill
Oct 1, 2016 at 1:50 pm
Everyone knows golf is a game of history, character and integrity. In my opinion, to be a true fan of the game requires one to be respectful of it. He is close enough to the game and should know better. You don’t want to put a target on the back of anyone – more so your brother or Ryder Cup team.
I am happy to bring to light some of the layers of the golf game and its culture. Its ok not to understand Stevo.

Nice attempt to spin things with you faux concern about Danny. Equally impressive effort at being patronising. However, In case you missed it he is actually making fun of some idiot Americans how have zero understanding of the history, character and integrity of the game. You know, the clowns that yell out “baba booey”, “mashed potato” etc. That is all the evidence that we have in front of us. The rest is you projecting your own opinions and insecurity. Hard to argue based on the evidence that PJ is out of touch. He has a pretty good radar for pointing out the sort of behaviour they doesn’t reflect the history, character and integrity of golf.
Bill
Oct 1, 2016 at 2:34 pm
I will be the first to admit his post was very accurate and funny.
But you basically agree with me by saying “Hard to argue based on the evidence that PJ is out of touch. He has a pretty good radar for pointing out the sort of behaviour they doesn’t reflect the history, character and integrity of golf.”
He pointed out poor golf fans and idiotic American behavior but did it at the expense of himself and his brother who was getting ready to play in the RYDER CUP. He got on the soapbox talking about idiots and then became the biggest idiot of all. We can agree to disagree. He is a funny moron who I care not to talk about anymore.
Gary

Bill
Oct 1, 2016 at 4:00 pm
Based on this definition you are right. He is a fan. But he is an enthusiastic devotee of a golf fan that no professional golfer would want as a brother.

Definition of fan: an enthusiastic devotee (as of a sport or a performing art) usually as a spectator
Bill
Oct 1, 2016 at 4:05 pm
i shouldn’t speak for Danny or all professional golfers even when speaking hypothetical. I still stand by my opinion of what makes a ‘true golf fan’. When you are a fan you protect it. Not spread yeast infection on it.
Stevo
Oct 2, 2016 at 4:12 am
Good to see you have seen the light Bill! Fully respect your right to refer to PJ as a ‘yeast infection’. However, give me PJ any day over the absolute neandarthal, degenerate, chromosome missing imbeciles in the crowd at the Ryder Cup at the moment. I don’t get why they need to yell out random food items every time someone hits but it is an embarrassment. It is making it borderline unwatchable.
Shaun
Oct 2, 2016 at 4:51 am

To give the man the benefit of the doubt, we did all learn that he has quite the sense of humor after the masters.. I do believe there is a strong possibility it’s been lost in translation between the interview and the context in which his words have been used. If he’s dead serious, then he’s a d**k head. Makes me feel kinda bad for Danny.
To anyone that’s getting down on the American’s for being upset.. that’s not really fair. We aren’t allowed to have a sense of humor anymore, or say anything that might even resemble a mean comment or else we end up on the news or something. I hope PJ is kidding, and if he isn’t, I hope he’s there Sunday so I can personally witness this train wreck in the making. If someone else doesn’t take care of him, his brother might have to do it himself once PJ ruins his career.

It was a joke mate. A joke.
The fact that you have taken it so seriously and (incorrectly) mentioned war and finances means that the joking and stereotyping will continue for as long as your jelly face remains red.

Ouch, looks like Danny’s bro hit a nerve much?! Haha.
Believe me, the rest of us around the world are forever amused at America’s lack of understanding of great depreciative wit. You guys get so offended! Case in point, you.
Chin up, princess.

You need to get the Docs to increase your medication mate. Calm down, get your xenophobia looked at, read a history book, and just chill. Because all you are doing is proving this irrelevant fool that wrote the original piece, absolutely correct. It’s only a joke pal. Jeeeez!
