First look: Cobra Baffler Hybrid Iron Combo Set
Cobra Golf is celebrating its 40th anniversary with the release of its Baffler Hybrid Iron Combo set. Released in 1975, the original Baffler was golf’s first modern utility wood. The Baffler Hybrid Iron Combo targets the super game improvement crowd, aimed at players that are looking for easy to hit hybrids and irons that deliver maximum forgiveness, higher launch and improved distance.

Hybrids 3 through 7 are available with lightweight graphite shafts, while irons are available with either lightweight graphite or steel in 4 iron through Sand Wedge. Stock sets come with three hybrids that replace the 4 iron, 5 iron and 6 iron, as well as (non-hybrid) 7 iron through Gap Wedge.

Neal Shipley, AKA, the “Big Fridge’s,” custom stamping
Neal Shipley was the first to admit that he enjoyed his food while in college. But since his days at Ohio State, he’s slimmed down and earned a PGA Tour Card.
That hasn’t stopped him from having fun with his wedge stampings, though it’s led to some misunderstandings.
On the 54 (degree), we have ‘Big Fudge,'” Shipley told GolfWRX. “It was supposed to be ‘Big Fridge,’ so this happened a little while ago. ‘Big Fridge’ was a nickname between my college teammates and I, with ‘fridge’ meaning stomach, a big stomach.

“We told the Ping guys to put … ‘Big Fridge’ on it, and I think maybe some bad cell service or something, and they thought I said ‘fudge,’ so they put fudge on it.”
On Shipley’s 50-degree he also continues the food theme, this time with his go-to order at the “Golden Arches,” and his stamping “DONS 7.”
“The number 7 meal, the two cheeseburger meal, that was my McDonald’s order, back when I would have McDonald’s frequently,” Shipley shared.

I brought these 2 months ago and they do everything as advertised! They might not look like the pros clubs but than neither does my swing! These clubs make the game easier and much more enjoyable! And if a golf snob has a problem with how my clubs look than its their problem, frankly I couldn’t care less what they think!! In addition their game is most likely no better than mine, snobs who needs them anyway!!!

Rich, I am with you on this. Unless you are a jock with single digit handicap, there is no point in using hard to hit clubs. I am 73 and play to a 14 handicap and I am looking at these Cobra irons.

I found these on sale for $175 3h,4h 5-SW. Perfect clubs! Ive dropped a few strokes each round and im now getting my “birdie” (actual par) on each hole. Ive only been golfing 2 years this coming January. I recommend these for the weekend golfer who is serious about getting serious eventually, but doesnt have a Pros budget.

This is what I’ve been looking for. I’ll be first in line when they go on the market in my neck of the woods.

Forget about the look — that is in the eye of the beholder. I just hit these and they are really good. I have placed an order.

I really like the look of these. Made to make the game a bit easier and more fun. All the blade-lovers can stick with theirs…I’m not good enough to handle them. But I’ll be buying these.

These will be fantastic – can’t wait to buy a set. I’ve tried similar years earlier in Japan and they were so much fun to play.
