The GolfWRX forums exist so golfers have access to the latest equipment releases, hottest discussions, real equipment reviews, best instruction, new technologies and everything golf you can imagine.
So if you love golf, the GolfWRX forums are your sanctuary.
In the From the Forums weekly feature, we bring you the hottest, most buzz-worthy topics from our forums for your convenience. I’ll be your trusty tour guide to navigate the latest buzz.
Ben Hogan Ft. Worth 15 irons testing thread
At GolfWRX, we strive to provide the most expansive, unbiased reviews of golf equipment in the world. Through our “testing threads,” we give WRX members an opportunity to test new equipment, and voice their opinion — real reviews from real golfers.
In this thread, Ben Hogan’s new Ft. Worth 15 irons are under the microscope of our members. See what WRX members had to say about Ben Hogan’s new irons here.

Stay below the radar
There’s always a lot of hype around big name golf clubs, expensive equipment and new releases, but there’s a world of equipment that flies below the radar of most consumers. In this thread, WRX members argue about what they believe to be overlooked golf clubs throughout history.
The thread is entertaining, nostalgic, and if you’re looking to purchase a set of inexpensive clubs, you might want to give some of the mentions a try.
The most “below the radar” golf equipment of all-time.
Jack Nicklaus’ club head speed
There’s a rumor floating around, started by Jack Nicklaus himself, that his club head speed in 1998, at 58 years old, was measured at 118 mph — meaning his speed in his prime would have been freakishly high.
Many are skeptical, others aren’t surprised. If it’s true, Nicklaus was more powerful than we even thought he was. Here’s a montage of young Jack’s driver swing, which we don’t have swing speed numbers from, but his power is evident.
See what GolfWRX members are saying about Jack’s driver speed at 58 years old.
Who has the best golf swing ever?
This thread, started by a new user in the forums, addresses one of the long-standing arguments for golf fans — what’s your favorite golf swing ever?
Is it the Golden Bear in his prime? A young, powerful Tiger Woods? Smooth-swinging Ernie Els? Many argue for Adam Scott, or even Louis Oosthuizen. There’s many favorites, and no ones wrong. After all, it’s your opinion!
Join the conversation, and voice your favorite golf swing ever.

Neal Shipley, AKA, the “Big Fridge’s,” custom stamping
Neal Shipley was the first to admit that he enjoyed his food while in college. But since his days at Ohio State, he’s slimmed down and earned a PGA Tour Card.
That hasn’t stopped him from having fun with his wedge stampings, though it’s led to some misunderstandings.
On the 54 (degree), we have ‘Big Fudge,'” Shipley told GolfWRX. “It was supposed to be ‘Big Fridge,’ so this happened a little while ago. ‘Big Fridge’ was a nickname between my college teammates and I, with ‘fridge’ meaning stomach, a big stomach.

“We told the Ping guys to put … ‘Big Fridge’ on it, and I think maybe some bad cell service or something, and they thought I said ‘fudge,’ so they put fudge on it.”
On Shipley’s 50-degree he also continues the food theme, this time with his go-to order at the “Golden Arches,” and his stamping “DONS 7.”
“The number 7 meal, the two cheeseburger meal, that was my McDonald’s order, back when I would have McDonald’s frequently,” Shipley shared.

So are you implying he didn’t swing that fast at 58. Guys like couples and singh are up around that in their mid 50’s. I imagine he probably did swing that fast. I’d also say he was probably mid 120’s in his prime.
