Spotted: Scotty Cameron’s new X7M putter

Published

on

We spotted a new Scotty Cameron putter at the 2015 WGC-Bridgestone Invitational on Tuesday, which appears to be called “Tour X7M.”

The putter looks similar to Cameron’s previously released X5 and X5R putters, except the fangs seem to be elongated and bridged, which would put additional weight behind the putter thus boosting MOI.

We will update the story with more information as it becomes available. Until then, join the discussion about the new putters here.

I will never buy a Scotty Cameron putter again. I have not bought anything since he started putting stupid weights on the bottom of the putter that took away the solid feel of the one-piece blades he used to create so long ago.
And what’s with all the copy designs? He’s run out of ideas and and are now selling just to make easy money, it’s no longer about refined quality at good prices

Just proves he is a good putter maker, not a good designer. Take another design mill it put the cameron name on it sell it for $200 more. He developed a market

Spot on! SC makes “Homage” putters. They should at least acknowledge this and re-name them:
SCAnser, SC#7 etc etc as a courtesy to the originals.
The putter will probably stay longer in your bag than any other club. SC know this so make sure they make a shed-load on every sale.

Hey, Scotty. Make a face balanced blade that’s not center shafted. Then I’ll buy for $350.

I’m sure it rolls really nice, but… its strikingly similar to the Odyssey #7. Think there were a few scotty staffers asking for a design like this?

      Big time…

Looks like the Odyssey Jailbird crossed with the number #7. And the X7 is the same as the #7. Makes you wonder whether there’s no new shape option left so copying is the only way to create something new.

Neal Shipley, AKA, the “Big Fridge’s,” custom stamping

Published

on

Neal Shipley was the first to admit that he enjoyed his food while in college. But since his days at Ohio State, he’s slimmed down and earned a PGA Tour Card.

That hasn’t stopped him from having fun with his wedge stampings, though it’s led to some misunderstandings.

On the 54 (degree), we have ‘Big Fudge,'” Shipley told GolfWRX. “It was supposed to be ‘Big Fridge,’ so this happened a little while ago. ‘Big Fridge’ was a nickname between my college teammates and I, with ‘fridge’ meaning stomach, a big stomach.

“We told the Ping guys to put … ‘Big Fridge’ on it, and I think maybe some bad cell service or something, and they thought I said ‘fudge,’ so they put fudge on it.”

On Shipley’s 50-degree he also continues the food theme, this time with his go-to order at the “Golden Arches,” and his stamping “DONS 7.”

“The number 7 meal, the two cheeseburger meal, that was my McDonald’s order, back when I would have McDonald’s frequently,” Shipley shared.

Check out Shipley’s full what’s in the bag and the rest of his wedge stampings here on “Inside the Ropes” from Colonial.
